Should I change the oil!

wait,as thats whot the car says, take it to its needed
mean time find a local garage that will do it
for half the cost.

you were all right  rang dealer today and yes it 2 years or mileage which comes first .
book in for oil service and brake £245.00 all in good or bad? looks ok to me :)

A little pricey that but to be expected from a main dealer with £120 /hr labour rates!

Labour for changing oil is £38 at local independant, £28 for changing the brake fluid.

Oil cost £64 for 8 litres from opie oils with members discount, then bought two litres of brake fluid (Castrol response super dot 4) for ~£25

Carbon cabin filter is quite pricey at £25 - changed that myself as its a piece of cake.

Oil filter kit from BMW (includes crush washer and new gasket) £8

So all in, supplying my own stuff the oil service will cost me £188 at the local specialist, I'll post a review tomorrow providing all goes well :)

If your car is over 4 years old you can ask for a small discount from BMW dealers, I'd be cheeky and ask if that's their best price - sytners are doing a price match deal too :D

what happens to the service / oil service calculation? If it says 7,500 miles to oil service, but you get it changed, will it then go backup to 2 years time / 15,000 miles?

Just wondering, as I'm thinking of getting an oil change, but wondered when a 'normal' service would then be done?

In Canada it's annual for the M. On all cars I would suggest annual - it's not a question of oil breaking down, more of an issue of moisture contamination due to condensation when engine goes through heating and cooling cycles in colder climates.
