Has bmw has fixed the rims cracking also with the newer models also have they fixed the security thing with the keys being copied. and just one last question would you buy another z4 would be grateful for any advise cheers si. :|

I'm on my second E89, no real problems for me on either one :)
Main cracking wheel problem was on the 296 V spokes, all others seem to be fine generally.
Some people have had such good deals on brand new that you'd be stupid to buy a 6 month old one, but I don't know if those deals are still available now.
There are lots of nearly new on auto trader for £23k - £26k depending on spec.

The problem with forums, any forum for any product or service is that customers are more likely to air their views if there is a problem than praise the good points. It's similar to eBay. You may buy from a seller with 100% feedback but only read the half a dozen poor feedback and don't read through the 5,000 good ones.
I have now had six BMW's and have been happy with all of them. I have also had Saab, Audi, Jeep, Volvo, VW and Landrover. I've had issues with a few of them, but no real problems and i am happy to say I wouldn't knock any of them.

Welcome to the forum si,

Issues regarding cracked rims should hopefully be sorted on latest models now, however hopefully someone can chime in when the modified wheels were introduced.

Main areas to look at are, dash and roof rattles, check the roof works OK, any signs of condensation in rear light units however this should have been cured on later models. Some members have experienced roof leaks on passenger side which is harder to check. Apart from that nothing much else. 2012 year build weren't subject to the security issues. On the bright side I've experienced no real problems in coming upto 12 months from new, although mine has been in winter storage, and yes I would buy another Z4 :)

I'm with Quadracer in the main. A lot of it depends on your expectations. I think my Z4 is great - it's one of the best looking cars around and sounds great. But I've had some issues that I hadn't bargained on, given BMW's top draw reputation, and it has tainted the experience a bit.

If you accept that you'll have more fun than problems, then go for it and I'm sure you won't regret it. :) Chances are it will be faultless, as I'm convinced the vast majority of Z4s are. If you have some problems...well, cars ain't perfect.

I swapped my boxster for a z (p registered 2012) and love it , good looking car, feel solid and fun to drive. If you get a 6 month old z you will have the balance of the warranty so if anything goes wrong your covered.

I will be changing my car in the summer and another Z4 is certainly on the list , I have owned mine just over 2 yrs and the only issues I have had are
a/ dancing windows ie windows go up/down/up/down when closing roof ,which is known issue and I belive that there is a fix for this but it happens so rarely that I cant be bothered b/ intermittant rattle from the rear which I havent done anything about because previous exprience (with another make) trying resolve this sort of issue causes more issues than it cures
