short'n'stubby antennas talk to me

In the second week of ownership of my MR now and as many have discovered before the oem antenna does not look right. I've seen some on eBay but I'm concerned that although they would look better they might lose their function and as i live in the outback I need a good antenna.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a good, reasonably priced one?

Thanks in advance

Tricky that... I assume you have standard FM and not DAB in the car? For me, going down to a stubby affected DAB in remote areas but FM remained OK. Mine was a generic part from Peugeot or Citroen, I forget which, but was only about £6. TBH you'll not get the same performance from a smaller aerial so I'd stick with OEM if you want quality of reception. I'm happy with the stubby I have tho as I rarely use radio and its only DAB thats affected.

I live in the 'outback' too and I bought this off fleabay and it's spot-on. No drop in signal at all (not dab)

edited to say, that funny bright light on the photo is the Sun.

Dear god Carol... £22! There's no wonder BMW are in growth profit!

I know but I wanted a good one because of where I live and I probably could have got a cheaper one but this was recommended to me from someone on here, can't remember who, (probably the owner of the fleabay site!) it works really well, you can't tell the difference between that and the whip aerial in sound quality & signal.

Edited to say that's gone up since I bought it, I think it was 20 quid.

I 've had my car for nearly 2 years/25k miles..... don't think i've ever listened to the radio!

Although i dont see anything wrong with the standard antenna

It's a pleasure reading threads like these in the "M Specific" forum. I'm guessing that the E85/86 owners dont have aerials then :P

Anyhoo, on a more positive not please see THIS which is the forum fav... the Mangowalk stubby.

It fits the E85/86  Not sure if it'll fit an "M" though :poke:

I got this one last week

Very pleased with results

See, now I got one just like the above and I was happy with it too, but the gap at the bottom always buggerd me a little.

I had a Mangowalk stubby which looked good and also fitted the base a bit better than some others.

Thanks for the advice all. Non dab radio just fm so stubby it is. Ebay special by the looks of it.

Apologies for just posting in the M section no snobbery involved honest.
