Ah-ha. Yes but we all know you are wearing stilts inside those 35 inch inside leg trousers.....

Nearly 5' 7"

I'm starting to get worried, Lucy who is 11 is almost 5' 2", Carol how tall were you at 11? I think 5' 9 or 10 is a great height for a woman but 6' is scary

I use to be 73" – now I'm 72" due to an over zealous ejection seat. (T-38)

Did you accidentally eject ?? I seem to remember you can only eject 3 times then you're not allowed to fly aircraft equipped with ejector seats - is that right ?

Short version: Student got us into a flat spin. Out of about 10,000, I had him eject hoping it would change the CG. After trying a few other unproven aerodynamic theories, it was time to say "goodbye" – that was around 4,000 feet. I think the limit is 3 because after 2, nobody wants to fly with you.

An expensive day at the office!

One of my patients is an ex pilot who ejected twice. Quite some stories and 20 years on is still in pain!
Did you fully recover?

Full recovery. Just real sore for a couple of weeks. The 1LT broke an ankle. The "over zealous seat" remark had to do with the sequencing of the canopy and ejection seat. Once you pull the triggers, the canopy departs, followed 0.3 seconds later, by the seat. The seat hadn't heard the story before. The canopy piercers did their job. Ejecting is always risky.

I used to be 5' 10'' but now I'm 5' 9.5'' due to a minor DIY incident, nothing as flash as ejecting from a fast jet I'm afraid :(
