To be fair it's 10-15k intervals following the dash clock but those date gaps of up to 5 years aren't to great, I wouldn't right it off just yet. Make sure shes not a ticking N52. They need good oil changes specially if its a silver top engine.

Looking at ownership history, the current owner purchased car in May 2018 and waited 3 years before servicing it!
Ffs this is negligence in my opinion, how much does an oil and filter change cost if you do it yourself.

I don’t,but will contact the owner today but I’m guessing not as he didn’t seem to be mechanically minded when I spoke to him before.

I’d be wanting to see an invoice for that last ‘inspection 2’ to see what was actually done.

As I suspected he didn’t have a clue about service intervals so didn’t think to get service done when he bought it,looking at invoice for last service doesn’t fill me with confidence

Walk away.

Why bother pursuing this when you will always be harbouring the risk/anxiety that something will go pop at some point due to a poor maintenance history?
The most important maintenance item for any engine is regular/frequent oil changes, ideally with intermediate oil changes between service intervals.
This one hasn't benefitted from either!

Is it a coupe because that seems like a lot of money for a 2.5si with that service history? I can't see mention of what one it is E85/E86 anywhere.

I don't know exactly how much damage happens when you don't change the oil. A lot of people swear by modern fully synthetic oils but looking at that invoice the car is still on it's original spark plugs, etc. I don't share the same thinking as those who love long life service intervals and believe modern fluids last forever, etc.

That means it's probably still on it's original rear shocks too which will have corroded or leaked, etc.

I would walk away since it's not cheap enough to cover all the potential issues. An inspection 2 should cover new plugs but that invoice there is no mention of them. It's been serviced on the cheap even after that 5 year stint with nothing done. Another thing is the brake fluid. The brakes/pistons will be corroded and seals worn out if brake fluid changes weren't done (no mention on that 5 year service interval). You are looking at very costly repairs in the future given all of the above.

It passed an mot last week with one advisory
Slightly worn near side tie rod, springs had been replaced in the past because it had failed mots in the past on them so chassis bodywork wise I’m confident all ok due to low mileage,it’s just the total lack of care in this guys ownership has possibly ruined a perfectly good car.btw it’s a roadster.

There are no 2.5si coupes ...

Not an inspection 2 at all then… unless it’s a colour Combo you’ve been waiting for ever for (Monaco Blue 3.0Si roadster for me) I’d leave it personally.

Or, if you can be hard and let your head rule your heart and it’s local, go and have a look but don’t commit there and then regardless…. Price needs to reflect condition and work required. There’s plenty on here that have bought cars cheap with limited history and enjoyed them.

Car looked immaculate body wise, engine bay
Spotless on the photo I saw, interior nice also.I just don’t get how you can be so fastidious on the way the car looks and it presumably drove well also, but be such a numpty on all the things like servicing,I guess it’s just testament to the way bmw put this thing together.

Crazy on such a low mileage car too. It's around £500 he would have needed to spend across the last 6 years. He's knocked more than that off the value so his loss.

As Joycey says 5 years is a long time, but it has only done 16,000 miles in that time.

Not ideal but if it has a colour & spec you really like it might be worth a punt at the right price, bearing in mind that you'll have a similar problem when you come to sell.

A low mileage 2.5 Si Sport has to be pretty desirable for those M-Sport seats!

It wouldn’t put me off at that age though, and low miles as well.

NEWSFLASH
16 yr old Bmw sports car without perfect history

There will most likely be countless examples with many more service boxes ticked in far worse order , you only need one bad owner in any cars ownership  serviced regularly but thrashed from cold would worry me far more & that " should " show in the way it starts & sounds now .
Any used car is always a gamble , rather than slagging off the current owner go see it  then you can make a judgement based on your findings & not based on bits of paper .
The N52 in general is a robust engine with very rare examples of failure , you should easily be able to tell if the car has been abused or simply needs a new owner who will treat it right .

I’ve found a fully optioned out 3.0l on a 53 plate for £4000 on 81,000 miles so will post piccies up on Sunday if all goes well🤞
