Shock Absorbers Issue

Hey guys, i’ve recently bought bilstein B4 shock absorbers and I am currently trying to install them on the car.

I have an issue, they don’t seem to fit at all or i’m doing a really bad job. Tried fitting them on the top mount first, but can’t get them “in the bottom hole” (lol). Also, when I encountered this, I tried mounting them the other way with no avail.

Please advise :D (did see the other post about the strut install on the how to forum but can’t reproduce:( )

I found coil spring compressors necessary . Once a pair of compressors were attached and the spring compressed as much as possible we were able to fit the struts in the car. Surprised you got the old ones out, we used the spring compressors to remove and install the struts here > https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&p=1693608#p1693608

Hey,

Thanks for the help,

We have used spring compressors to get the old one off the car. Just managed to mount the new suspension. We had to remove a tension arm and everything worked quite well from there.

Just goes to prove there's more than one way to skin this critter :)
We were afraid we would loose alignment if we took anything else loose.
Mine was not adaptive suspension. Is yours?

Nope, no adaptive suspension.

I was afraid too, but really lost my patience and said f**k it im going to put on winter tires soon, might as well do alignment and just decided to do that, but it went fine in the end.

I just unbolted the anti roll bar. Don't remember having any great problems.
I'm surprised your B4 are black, mine are yellow.

Seen is an easy change on E85/86M’s & you don’t need compressors on the front
