Shipping alloys with tyres?

Hi Guys,

I'm in the process of buying a set of wheels off another user here but as I live in Germany, they have to be shipped. The other user has wrapped them up in bubble wrap/cardboard but on the Paisley website they say they need to be in a cardboard box.. which are very hard to find for this wheel size (65cm x 65cm x 30cm).

I asked CS at Paisley and they said they "might" be rejected by the pickup and would be sent with no cover. Has anyone shipped wheels before without boxes? A guy on z4 owners group on FB said he shipped his no problems without a box, but as mine are going to another country I'm not sure.

Cheers!

I used Paisley recently and shipped 4 alloys with tyres with a thin plywood cover on the alloy which was the size of the total width and secured with gorilla tape to the tyres. Intention was to protect the face of the alloys and it was fine. Collected and delivered without no hassle.

I took out the insurance as a precaution.

So the wheels were picked up but rejected at the depot because they weren't boxed. :headbang:

I can't find any boxes the right size online so I'm stuck for ideas.. How can there be so many wheels being sent all over the world but nowhere is selling cardboard boxes for them??

I’ve just bought new 19’s from Alloys direct but they came from Germany to Scotland. They were all boxed but in Alloys Direct branded boxes, not BMW ones. The boxes are big and that’s without tyres.

Just a thought but since they’re already packaged would you get 2/all wheels in something like a fridge/washing machine box or something similar?

These are the right size but only ship in Germany. I've emailed them about sending the boxes to UK.

Haha, exactly the type of boxes I need. I have to send each wheel seperately, Paisley only does packages up to 30kg and each wheel is around 23kg.

There’s no way they’d fit if the tyres were fitted. I presume they had to do the same and post them individually

This link is for 4 boxes so a bit cheaper than previous link but in their description it says Post within Europe, might be worth a try

Nightmare... this is how they were packaged,

Bubble wrap, then cardboard facings front and back, then cling-wrapped then taped again :headbang: D3363507-DB78-4653-96DB-A6887019496D.jpeg

I can image it did take ages and quite right about wanting to protect them properly, I’m only on the wind up

As an aside, I thought they looked lovely on your car and personally would’ve kept them. I even checked offset etc to talk myself out of buying them from you as I’d just bought a new set. I convinced myself I didn’t need them and my bank balance is thanking me for that decision

I'm sure these could be made to work:

Wheels arrived finally :D Thanks again Martin for going through all the hassle.

Good news you’ve got them, I bet Martin is too

Im relieved... I know I put the onus on the buyer to arrange the courier, but I’d still hate to think of something going wrong.

From the messages I’m getting via WhatsApp.. @AC5L4T3R is very happy with them
