Shifting issues

I am new to the forum so forgive me if there is already a discussion on this. I recently purchased a 2003 Z4 3.0i with a 6 speed manual transmission. The problem I'm having is that there seems to be a little bit of "grinding" and sticking between some of the gears. It's most pronounced between 1st and 2nd but noticeable between the others as well. The clutch pedal feels fine and seems to engage at the right place and I haven't noticed any of the usual symptoms of a bad clutch. Could the grinding and sticking be a sign of a clutch that is going out or is there something else to look into such as linkage, fluid, etc.? I appreciate any comment or advice.

If that doesn't solve it this may be the answer:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=101087&p=1484658&hilit=CDV+guide#p1484658

This is only my humble opinion, the Z4 needs to be approached as if it is an older car ,by this i mean pushed into gear not waiting until it wants to go there.
I find the more you try and drive the Z to your will the better it responsed and appreciation grows.
I have also removed the cdv on a previous Z and it did help the feel, but did not eradicate the problem your feeling.

I would change the oil in the gearbox too, it was a very noticeable difference for me, did mine at 69k miles. I used a full Ltr of Redline fully synth manual transmission fluid 75-80w and then filled the remaining capacity with Redline D4 fully synth automatic fluid.
When I researched the subject, mixing some auto fluid for a smoother gear change came up in many discussions, I have nothing to compare the results to be fair with but it’s about as smooth as I imagine it can be now, so much so that I haven’t removed the CDV which I had planned to do after the gear box oil.

I think the grinding part still concerns me... When/how does the grinding noise manifest? Is it just before going into the gear or out of the gear, or in fact whilst in gear?

I had a similar issue on my e85, have not had it long and the change from 1st to 2nd wasn't great , thought I had forgotten how to drive !
I have just changed the gearbox oil to Redline 75w80 and it has made a big difference ( despite the previous owner saying it had been recently done ).
Its a cheep thing to try first
