shift light staying on!

hi there.. just got my 03 z4 3.0 about 2 months ago.. cars been great lover everything except the squatty rear end and the fact that my shifter light (automatic :| the ol lady didnt want a 6 speed) stays on it park after i lock the doors .. and it stays on all night.. which im thinking is making it a little ruff boggy starting in the mornings because the battery is weak.. brand new battery and i dont want to ruin it.. just wondering if this happens in all z4s.. could someone please lock their car and tell me if the little orange light stays on?? thanks ahead of time :tumbleweed:

Which light do you mean, bit slow on the uptake here, but got an auto :)

The small light to the side of the shifter, the one that indicates P I think. I think they always stay on but could do with confirmation :D
 
yup the little light that indecates its in p ... but i think i figured it out and they are supposed to shut off.. yesterday my car almost didnt start after sitting for about 5 hours.. what was happening is the alram would go off only when the wind blows (and only when the wind blows) .. i could hear it in the middle of the night also.. so last night i pulled it all out .. it was some super cheesy alarm and didnt even have a sensativity setting .. and i finally got to lock the car and not have to listen to it all night! thanks for yalls help! :driving:
 
Hi salty,

The light goes out when the car is central locked and comes on when the car is unlocked, I use the central locking btw.

mine is in bmw garage at moment so i can't go and check for you, but i don't think mine stays on :?
