She's sold :( farewell pics and a video

Well here’s the goodbye post. :o :(

I sold my M roadster recently and although it was the right thing to do it was painful. :(

To start at the beginning I first owned a Sterling grey 3.0, and I loved it. Having previously owned an s2000 this was just a touch more grown up and the beefy torque suited brisk day to day driving. I tinkered away modding it and couldn’t think of a better car for the money.

Here was she...

But, once the girlfriend moved in with me and brought with her an 02 VW Polo I thought what the hell I’m buying an M. The plan was simple; find a low miles great condition high spec model and keep it for a year, use it as a second car. Something basically that would be easy to move on afterwards. :)

It’s a hard slog finding M’s in good nick :| . I saw some pretty average condition cars, some as low miles as 12k and looking very sorry for themselves (how do owners do that in 12 thousand miles :o ????)

At the start of the search I had seen an Interlagos Blue one and it had never been a preferred choice as it looks naff in pictures. I still think that now. But in the flesh it looks amazing. You would never think as a man ‘ooo I’de like a blue with a bit of purple please’ but as soon as you see it you’re in love. 8)

I eventually found a good one and coupled with some CSL alloys I had as close to my dream car as I can afford (a Ferrari 355 in blue with cream leather one day please!!)

In my time with it I drove her down to Barcelona and again to the South of France, if you don’t drive to the beach with a roadster then you’re missing the point!

The M is a real event of a car, as spoken about in many posts on this forum. I had the pleasure of replacing the rear tyres after having a lot of dsc of oppo-lock-fun! :driving: You have to get out of England in these cars if your not going to get on track, they need wide road spaces to play!

Nothing ever went wrong with her apart from a wheel slightly buckling, which was an easy fix and a sidelight bulb blowing.

So, now we’re in one of the hottest spells ever to hit England and I have waved goodbye to it. The new owner is a great fella that owns a B&B near Le Mans. He’d paid for the car before even seeing it. I did send him some high res images and he had an RAC inspection done though. Mad? Well he loved it as soon as he saw it and I don’t blame him. At least I know it will be having a great time away from the UK roads.

So what next? Well nothing unfortuneatly. This has been the worst part of selling the car as previously there has always been another one to look forward to buying. But, through struggle and long hours I’m buying a house at the mo. This, if anyone knows N2 London property prices is no easy task! The house has no driveway and I’m not about to have a nice car sitting on the street. So, an old Polo and trips to B&Q is all that’s on the horizon for the next year or two. I will literally weep every time I see a Z4M on the road but needs must.

I’ve had a great time on this forum, reading about everyones cars and more. I won a monthly photocomp and had pictures in both the calenders. Very pleased with that :D

I leave you with a load of pics of her final run out with my mate in his Z3M and a video of dubious quality edited on my ipad (sorry my mac is in storage at the mo)

MASSIVE thanks to all the forum members here making this a great entertaining place to visit!

Its a gutter alright, but, in a few years time when the house is sorted, cars will have depreciated a bit more and you might just drop on a little toy...

Sad times :(

I had been without a car of my own for 4 years before i picked my Zed up on my birthday. For much the same reasons as you. Brought a rundown property put every single penny me and Mrs Monkey had and some we didn't in to it. Then when that was all going well we decided to get married. Although it was hard not having a toy for all that time. I was kept busy with the house and we are now in a great financial situation i am 32 this year and i have a mortgage for less than half what they say my house is worth.

Get the house do that thing enjoy the process. There will be other toys around the corner

Gorgeous looking Zed Dreamer. I too would be gutted if I'd had to part with such a fantastic looking car. It was images of your car that inspired me to fit CSL's and the M front bumper to my 3.0 si.

same to see you go :( but hopefully will be back in a few years with a m or 3.5is :D :driving: all the best with the house I have done it 3 times
abroad is my future move

Stunning car & a great farewell to Z post :)
No need to leave the forum though , there may always be another

Sad day, but glad another owner leaves the fold with fond memories!

Good luck with the house purchase, hopefully you'll be back in an ///M in no time  :driving:

You know what guys they were very fond memories :)

I know there will be other cars but the reality is they wont be anywhere near as excting as a zed for quite a while. Hard to take being quite the car fanatic.

As soon as the house completes i'll be a regular on Screwfix more than anywhere - Easier than hypnotherapy to stop me looking through pistonheads classifieds!

Lots of self pity ahead :D

As the guys have said - never say never, you'll lay your hands on another lightweight, powerful toy in no time. You can prioritise, show mature perseverance, so I'm sure the best motoring days are still ahead of you.

Anyway, just a silly question - is that David Coulthard standing behind your car?

Lovely farewell post  & a seriously gorgeous zed, you have lots of happy memories there, thanks for posting. :)

Corsaire - there is something about that picture that makes my jaw look huge :? i assure you its normal size and not Coulthard massive in real life :D :D

I really cant beleive this years weather compared to last. Bad timing

I was too slow to buy this one, glad it's gone to a good home :).

It's a stunning looking zed, the wheels for me are just the icing on the cake!

Good luck with the house Dreamer. It might not seem it at the moment but buying a house in N2 is a whole lot more sensible than spending it on an M. In a few years time you'll be able to buy several M's with the extra money that investment has made! Maybe the next toy will be the Ferrari!

Oh and this layman thought the video was excellent.

Such a shame with the current weather but no doubt the rain will be back soon! Can't say I am sorry to see one with this combo go off to the continent.  Is the chap and his B&B behind the hunaudière straight?

Good luck; as above the house and wedding are life investments.. a car, is a bit of a toy.

No doubt you'll have a nice special motor in the near future
