Oh what a grand day out, I left work in Bristol at lunchtime for the 3.5 hours drive to Boston, top down and sunshine all the way, a little motorway and lots of A46, glorious. Arrived to find my new car on display next to reception. Mary on the desk, asking how she can help, me giddy with excitement, stating and pointing, that's my car. Have to say that I'm so pleased with colour, all the black bits blend together and it just works, it is utterly gorgeous. While we were doing the paperwork, customers would come in to collect their cars and see mine and just stop and stare.

Emily then took over and we went through all the stuff needed for a new car, they really are very friendly and helpful and I can't recommend them enough. Left Boston at 17:30 and another long drive home to East Yorkshire through some lovely sweeping roads through Lincolnshire and a great way to get familiar with a the new car.

First impressions, the tweaks they have made to the suspension are wonderful, the previous zed felt a little twitchy on less than perfect roads, this is so much better and as for the steering, it's lighter with more feel. The 6MT is lovely and really does suit the engine, that flat torque curve gives you a lovely constant acceleration until you change up, either at 3,000 rpm or 5,000 rpm and it doesn't matter and I can't wait to get higher up the range. Sixth gear is a doddle, again that flat torque curve from low down gives a relaxing drive, from 30 to 70 mph you always have oodles of torque to get going. So very happy with the choice and I can't wait to get out again tomorrow.

Thanks John and we shall agree to disagree on the red interior, I really like the black door cards and the cognac seats, it matches the interior dash.

Very nice… what wonderful weather for picking up a new zed 8)
I was so hot when I finally got to the dealer, but yes a perfect day 8)

[ref]Mr Tidy[/ref], Thanks hon
[ref]PSQ777[/ref], Thanks, further write-ups to come once we're settled in

Very nice indeed, that is a lovely combination. Interesting that the changes in the model in those short years are so profound to make it so much better.

Looks fabulous! Your so right about the suspension, it feels much tighter but more compliant too. They've really done a lot of work and haven't just plonked a 6 speed Mt in. I love where the gear shift sits too in the perfect position and not too high up.

The mods completed on the suspension were for the handschalter pack to give a more engaging drive, which is both more comfortable and has better control. [ref]Boyo[/ref], [ref]LHam[/ref], [ref]tweeky687[/ref], [ref]Swiftly[/ref], thanks guys, I'm really really happy with it.

First to second isn't that smooth (yet) but the rest is is lovely, shifting from 2nd to third and 4th to 5th is a satisfying action. It's such a different drive to the auto, which makes for lazy but swift progress and for 95% of the time you don't think about it, the manual makes you want to build rpm. In town and tootling, I'm using 1st or 2nd to 3rd to 6th, with the odd blast in 2nd or 3rd but it is quite easy to get carried away, overtaking remains a breeze :D

Congrat Sars, enjoy many happy miles in it :driving: and looking forward to the updates
Have the first drive to Bristol on Tuesday, want to get that first 1000 miles in quickly

Lovely, enjoy, the B58 is a peach. Almost too good, challenge is to keep it legal!
Remember to update your signature too Sars.

Oooooo that’s beautiful! Nice little touches too. Love the m40 badge in black. Wouldn’t mind that on my car!

Do you lose adaptive cruise with the manual?

Enjoy the new car and miles!

Keeping it legal. Damn. On my second day of my thunder night I got a speeding ticket. Had to do a speed awareness on Friday. That’s was fun………

Had a lovely run out to Millington for a nice ten-mile walk in the dales, the car is just sublime. Wheels look enormous in the picture below, but really suit the car.

[ref]ori[/ref], yep no active cruise, don't seem to have hill assist or dropping mirrors when reversing either.

I'd be surprised if it didn't have Hill start Assist seeing as my 2006 Z4 and 2005 3 Series do!

On my oldies the dipping passenger side mirror only works when you have the adjuster set to one side - I just can't remember which one.

And your wheels definitely do look huge!
