Shell Helix Oil for Z4 3.0si?

I've looked at the LL04 list of approved oils but can't find the exact helix oil they mentioned

Is the below link suitable for the 2 year service intervals?

I was just trying to avoid spending over double on getting Castrol Edge but if it's better I will spend the money

Thanks

It would probably be ok but lets just say thats the oil I put in my Ford Focus day car. I wouldnt dream of using it in my Zed. Pay extra and go with Petronus oil.

If its 5w 40 you want & not 5w 30 see below but as Adam says , you can always ring Opie to discuss

My BMW Indy told me BMW used to use Castrol Edge, but they now use Shell because Shell would supply it in a container that only had BMW branding with no mention of Shell on it!

As a result he has also switched from Castrol to Shell so I expect the one you've mentioned is what my car has in it, although my previous one would have got Castrol Edge.

I can't see why either is likely to cause a problem so long as it meets the BMW LL04 spc. (But when I was using Castrol Edge the cheapest place I found it was Asda)!

Or if you buy the Shell from ECP tonight with code "weekend35" the oil is £24.37

BMW make an issue of saying they use shell oil now.

Call me cynical, but more likely shell offered a better deal than Castrol.

OK then "cynical".

That may well have been a factor, but my Indy seemed to think it was also because Shell would supply it in containers without their name on, whereas Castrol wanted their logo somewhere on the container.

Actually that's probably cynical as well.

Well call me cynical too but id wager the decision was also related to which of the 2 oil company's would supply at the cheapest rate per litre

Thanks all, went through the Service History and every single one had used Castrol Edge and given how smoothly it has run in my time of ownership i didnt want to change anything. Went and used the WEEKEND35 code for ECP and got 8L for £54 so only a little more expensive than helix in the end

MANN filters ordered and ready for its service at the weekend!

Thanks again
