She may have to go :(

It was never going to be an easy decision, but I've been sat holding the digital camera for 2 days now deciding whether to advertise my Z4MC.

We're just in the process of selling the house and the poor Z has been a driveway ornament for nearly 3 weeks now while we've been out on viewings etc.! I'm just not getting to drive her and with moving up the property ladder, the extra cash could be put to use elsewhere.

I honestly thought I would never sell her since IMO there is simply nothing in this price range that delivers the performance/sense of occasion. I have to painfully admit that this has contributed to the decision, since I'm so precious that unless it's sunny and we're going out to enjoy the car, I'd take the girlfriend's old trolley before I'd take the cover of the BM. :slaphead:

What should I do... and what would I ever find for less money that could replace it?

Similar decision to the one I've just had to make mate.

Its unbelievably hard - never gone through anything like it. If its any consolation, it seems a good time to sell price wise.

Can PM you a contact if you wish (who bought mine)

dont do it - the moment you sell you will miss it and regret it :(

leave the cover off and drive it more :driving:

Did make me smile when mentioning that the car only came out in the sunshine ... it is a coupe, not a roadster :D

Dont do it, the interest rates are so low at them minute, how much would it save you on a mortgage payment? If your really need the cash then go for it now as the resell prices are high, if it is not urgent then keep it and sell when you really need to. Think how good it will look outside your new house.

You sound like my other half, ohhh its raining i am not taking my car out, stuff that, get out and drive it, mine goes everywhere (a bit paranoid about parking in supermarket car parks though) if you drove it more, you would not be having this dilemma you would want to keep it. Mine was meant to be a short term car, the only reason mine would go now, is if something serious financially happened and i had no choice or could afford a new 911, there isnt much out there that will give you the thrill of an M for the money. We have a 350z which is quite good value for money second hand, but even that feels a bit tame and naff compared to the M.

Good luck with your decision.

Punt it,you can allways get another years down the line,z4mc for sale,
get the house you want and use the gfs trolley..
its only a car..

ignore gers! Get out there and enjoy the car- rain wont do it any harm- u will miss it when its gone!

I don't think I'll ever have a 'weekend' car, I just enjoy driving these great machines too much :driving:

after you've sold the Z and bought another car as a replacement would it leave you with much cash towards the house? If it's only say £10k difference you would barely notice that put towards a mortgage. Keeping the Z and adding an extra £10k onto the mortgage would mean only a minor increase in monthly repayments.

i.e. keep the car! :)

I hope you are kidding. :o That is not a good financial advice. You should reduce to a minimum your mortgage payments instead of tying it into assets that rapidly depreciate.

who said anything about owning a z4m was good financial advice in the first place - if we were dictated by that none of us would own them :) :driving:

Why Patrice? If you are in negative equity, the (now) majority Government owned UK banks will offer a better long term rate as they're so paranoid about bad debt. If you have 30% or more equity, you still won't get as good a rate.

If we all go into negative equity, negotiate a top rate, then default simultaneously, anarchy will break lose and the the legal system won't be able to cope with the amount of repossession cases. Then we can keep our houses for free.

I know it sounds far fetched but it's exactly what the fat cat bankers did. They're laughing right now at their homes in the Bahamas.

arrggghhh too early and clearly i'm still a little drunk..... :D

Sell the car, if you're going to grudge owning it and it's becoming a chain around your neck then it's not worth it. You can always get another later.

They don't make them anymore and I for one would not want an "unknown" M which has been thrashed to an inch within its life.

Probably better to buy one of those than one that's been used as a shopping trolley/commuter!

Sure - but I have been to meets and seen cars driven in a way from cold that makes me shudder. Those are also the cars that consume quite a bit of oil. None of that will be visible to the second hand buyer.
