After a lot of time (and money) I finally got my car ready for the Nurburgring, and here she is!

Alpina front and wheels... a nice look... but bet the wheels are a bugger to keep clean

Did you also go all out and get the alpina rear spoiler?

Yeah I got the spoiler too! :D

So where are the pics of your rear end :poke:

Enjoy the ring though... I found the people i met there as enjoyable as the actual driving!

I've just got back from The Ring! We had a good time but unfortunately there were some really awful accidents which meant lost lives and the track shut for a lot of the time. Still, had a good lap, only nearly came off twice :o

Not a good week (or so) for some people at the Ring. A chap on an R6 lost his life following an incident at Klostertal and a chap has been reported as losing his life after being thrown out of a rolled Clio at Hedwigshohe. Very sad.

It's not called the green hell for nothing. There were lots of crashes when i went there last May,but people still didn't wind it in.Nice Z there Kirsty.

Nurburgring has a reputation for being a bit of a killer - especially for bikers? To me the idea that anyone can go on it with no training in cars that can result in massive speed differences must result in problems. Is it as narrow as it appears as well? 14 miles long it must take a few laps to begin to remember what corners after which!

I'd love to go to one of the track days at Spa. Trying to convince a mate to book up for one, maybe I should throw it open to the whole Z4 Forum as a trip next year (not forgetting ZedFest!).

The car looks good kirsty - but as mentioned about the wheels - I'd give them a miss for that very reason!

Personally I don't think it's narrow, however for the most part there is very little run off before the armco, and I'm talking 10-20ft. I've done far more bike laps than car laps round there but don't any longer ride at any real pace round there due to the difficulty in spotting fluid spills. Shame really, because I much prefer it on the bike, but sadly as the place got busier the spills got more.
As I've said before though, it really isn't anywhere near as bad as some of the drama queens make it out to be, it's just a road, half ounce of common and a bit of ability and all will be well. You can of course get caught up in someone elses crash, but that can happen anywhere.

Remembering the track? I tended to remember the difficult corners early on, but at a guess I reckon 50 ish laps before being fully confident of the whole layout.

Thank you for the comments guys! I am very happy with the end result.

To be honest it was bikes and the English causing all the crashes. People were sick of waiting for the track to open so when it did they went all out - ending in more crashes. And we saw a picture of the Clio that flipped and killed the passenger - it didn't even resemble a car. Very sad indeed.

One of our members got crashed into in his Porsche Carrera with no fault of his own and got no help from the German police but that's another story, it's an expensive result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Shortly after that I sold my laps.

Isn't it weird driving a 'steering wheel on right' car in Germany? I mean -- just getting there?

Overtaking on single lane carriageways can be difficult with no passenger in the car, but other than that it's fine.
