Shaped Number Plates (Rear - Msport)

Has anyone purchased a shaped plate for the back of their car?

I think it may improve the look of the back.

Are shaped plates legal? Some debate on the internet over this issue…

These plates are around £145, and there is no option to remove the company logo from them…

There must be a cheaper way of getting this kind of thing done, especially if more people were interested.

What do people think?

If you fancy a play with the settings.

Im with you on this. Danger of it looking like a Rover 75.

I’m with you, I just ordered the shortest plates possible for mine yesterday because the surrounding area for both plates is body coloured so doesn’t look out of place.

I also agree on that price

It just draws more attention to an oversized plate, has a bad effect on the looks so not for me

It's another no from me for both looks and the crazy high costs. But it's your car and your choice if you like it go for it.

Mr general opinion is that as soon as you start changing the size/shape/lettering of a number plate all it does is draw attention to the number plate which is generally the least attractive part of the car - but it's what you think that matters.

Seems like an overwhelming no then!

The Rover 75 reference shows your age a bit!

There is a G29 version which looks good on that car, but then again, I quite like the look of this one too!!

The shape and size is legal however new reg plate laws come into effect in August.

All plates must display the BS symbol
3d allowed but letters must be solid black, no clear or coloured layers sandwiched underneath.
Plate backgrounds must be yellow, faded/greyed will be illegal,

A few other bits n bobs apply as well, apparently all to do with NPR cameras ability to recognide and read them
