SG reviews the M Coupe

Yep yep that’s correct.

However you can’t buy M11 bolts from BMW (without buying the connecting rod) and so you are forced to either re-use the bolts or opt for APR bolts.

Does it take 17 mins for the lights to go out on the rev counter? Or should I be waiting longer than that?

Depends on your climates. Our sunny So Cal hardly dips below 50s, so it takes a bit less to get the car up to temp. It's not the rev counter light that you should be looking at, wait until the oil temp goes past 200F or so before giving it the beans. FYI - all of my rev counter lights are usually out after about 5 minutes of driving, but oil temp would still hover under 120F

As XMetal says I wouldn't rely on the lights. Mine are all out by the time the oil temperature gauge has moved off the stop! :o

But I never give it a work-out until the oil is showing well above 75 degrees C.

So far mine has never showed more than 90 degrees, even after a 40 mile drive with an ambient temperature of 25 degrees.

Sorry, I also look at the gauge and wait for over 75 deg, remember this from my e46 m3 days, but the lights correspond with 75deg on mine. It doesn't take long to get upto temp at the moment, less than 10mins.

FYI

But you can recalibrate the warm up lights to match real life oil temperature thresholds.
