So, your BMW AD lied to you, then?Nictrix said:The garage I go to said dont bother with the vehicle check, its nothing really more than what is covered with a service and an Mot and just another excuse for the dealer to charge you for something thats not needed.
My car was in for a recall on Monday and I got a message and a video saying that they found issues after doing a health check. Front tyres scrubbed on the outsides and rear brake discs nearing the limit. F**k off, Im only here for the recall.

Not sure what you mean by BMW AD or what you think they lied about?Busterboo said:So, your BMW AD lied to you, then?Nictrix said:The garage I go to said dont bother with the vehicle check, its nothing really more than what is covered with a service and an Mot and just another excuse for the dealer to charge you for something thats not needed.

Who are they in, "My car was in for a recall on Monday and I got a message and a video saying that they found issues after doing a health check. Front tyres scrubbed on the outsides and rear brake discs nearing the limit", if not a BMW AD, then?Nictrix said:Not sure what you mean by BMW AD or what you think they lied about?Busterboo said:So, your BMW AD lied to you, then?Nictrix said:The garage I go to said dont bother with the vehicle check, its nothing really more than what is covered with a service and an Mot and just another excuse for the dealer to charge you for something thats not needed.

I assume AD is authorised dealer then. Yes it was in one of their horrible office like buildings for a recall as I had no other choice.Busterboo said:Who are they in, "My car was in for a recall on Monday and I got a message and a video saying that they found issues after doing a health check. Your tyres are scrubbed on the outside and you have done 78,000 on the same discs?Nictrix said:They are right that the tyres are scrubbed on the outsides just like every other one they probably see and the discs have 78,000 miles on them so are probably getting close to limits although look fine without measuring ...

I said that the vehicle check was a waste of money as everything is checked with a service and mot. My post about the dealer pointing out that the tyres were scrubbed and the rear discs might be worn were about the fact they want money off you for no reason and the car was only in for a recall not for them to point out stuff that people not in the know would possibly panic about and fork out more money.
I maybe shouldnt have mentioned the recall part in this thread as it has confused you.
Heres one for you though, right up your street. 20" alloys on runflat tyres and none of them have cracked![]()

20" alloys on RFTs, but with no cracks. I'm glad for you. Honestly, because having cracked wheels must be horrible.Nictrix said:Heres one for you though, right up your street. 20" alloys on runflat tyres and none of them have cracked![]()

And your experience drives a coach & horses through the theory than RFTs crack 19" alloys.

I’m assuming that as they’re to fit a bmw X6 that they will have a higher profile tyre than a z4 and also benefit from much softer suspension. Both of these factors together must combine to give the wheels a considerably longer life than would be normal on a z4 with runflats![]()

Rears have a 35 profile and fronts have a 40 but the rears are 315 width.mr wilks said:Smartbear said:Busterboo said:20" alloys on RFTs, but with no cracks. I'm glad for you. Honestly, because having cracked wheels must be horrible.

Most probably along with increased tyre profiles the recommended psi will be less too  so zero correlation with 19inch/runflats/pressures on E89s
