Servicing in Hampshire.

Folks,

I'm based in Basingstoke, and my Z4 E89 will be needing an oil change in the next 4000 miles and servicing around September time.

So are there any recommendations as to who is good or who to avoid in the Hampshire / Berkshire areas?

Just as a matter of interest - how does it know the oil needs changing, is it simply time / mileage based, or is it a sensor? and any ideas on how much it would cost.

I'll be ringing around the dealers, but personal experiences are worth knowing about, as I'll have to spend $£$£ I'd like it to keep a good dealer going.

Cheers

not local to you so no recommendations. servicing in usage based but also time based I don't tend to do lots of miles so mine asks for a service pretty
much every 2 years

Hi mate, if your car is over 4 years old you'll get 10% off parts and labour. Ask them to quote you and then ask them to apply the 4+ discount.
Woods in Hampshire is supposed to be a good dealer for servicing. I've had experience with Synter Sunningdale and Cooper Reading. I use Cooper as its round the corner from me and they've been decent so far.
Also, get them to give you a full break down of the parts and labour prices, and then buy your own oil; you'll save quite a bit and if you have the break down you can make sure they charge you for labour only.

Thanks guys.

Past woods tonight on the way home, so easy enough to get to, god to hear that they're OK. I had an issue with Cooper in Reading, but that was with a bike service and so that doesn't mean that I'd have the same issue with a car (different sides of the business AND they no longer do bikes)

Unless anyone else has more comments, then I'll probably talk to Woods.

Cheers

Hi Dave,
i live in Basingstoke and have used MPC for my servicing for my previous BM so if you are looking for a local independent they would be a good alternative to main dealers.

I have just acquired a 2011 model so i am not certain if i will use main dealers or MPC but thats not something i need to think about for a while yet.

Have you considered Woods at Hook? they are certainly the closest main dealer but i have not used them personally.

I would be interested in who you do decide to use and your experience of them.

Regards
Ian
