Hi all
My car would have been with me a year in March
. Debating what to do about service, should I get it done at a reputable garage, like I normally would?
I know a lot of you guys service your own zeds , I’m quite enjoying the tinkering with the car , and there are lots of threads on here to help , what do you do about the service book if you service it yourself? And was thinking of doing plugs as well, some opinions on best plugs please? Thanks guys :thumbsup:

Bmw dealers do low cost servicing for old cars, mine is very good, a family owned dealer not Arnold or stratstones

Indy’s that know the cars are good too

The only issue with self servicing is resale and missing stuff that the garage diagnostics would pick up

It’s a 53 plate 3.0 with 90k . Everything you said was the reason for asking what people do , I guess I’ll get some quotes. Thanks for your help :thumbsup:
 
When I do my service I note the miles, date and an invoice number I bought all the bits on in the service book. And any other bits fitted between yearly services is in date order. I now have a folder about 2” thick of fully documented history over the 8 years I have owned the car. When cars get older I would rather see a folder with all documented dates and mileage than a few stamps on a book. I doubt I’ll ever sell the z4 but it’s nice to have the history.
 
Ngk platinum I believe. Done them twice in 8 years that’s about every 25000 miles. They will go a lot longer but not expensive so why not.
 
I've always done what mr nurburgring suggests.
When part exchanging at a garage I've always answered 'yes' to the 'has the car a full service history' question
Typically that's as far as the conversation has ever got!

The only time the approach has let me down was when a young lady turned a private sale down as she said her Dad would kill her if she bought a car without a full garage service history
I know which one I would prefer :)
 
A garage stamp is totally worthless to me. No proof of what parts have been fitted just a stamp in a book that could be done with one from eBay for £5.
 
I was put off large garages years ago after a friend put a car in for a service and left a coin on top of one of the tyres.
When he went back to collect it later the coin was still there, the car hadn't moved.
