Service, whats it due ?

It would be interesting to see what BMW warranty would say.
I imagine they would want them carried out as below in that order.
Oil
Ins 1
Oil
Ins 2
Oil
etc
Every 2 years maximum, regardless of mileage.
I personally would want the services to follow the above structure as a minimum on any M car I would buy and would walk away if they didn't. I am not your average buyer and am mega fussy so take my views with a pinch of salt.

PVR is correct, its not really they have used the current condition based servicing model and applied it across the board. If you are happy paying £1,262 for the service below with no mention of shim checks, and gearbox and diff fluid changes fill your boots.
Engine oil service with microfilter, air filter & spark plugs £1262
SERVICE DESCRIPTION
Engine oil is drained and the engine is refilled with BMW approved oil
Oil filter is removed and replaced with a Genuine BMW oil filter
Microfilter(s) is removed and replaced with a Genuine BMW microfilter

Spark plugs are removed and replaced with BMW approved spark plugs

Recommended every 18,000 miles or 2 years from last inspection. To alternate with and Inspection l service if applicable
You guys doing inspection services based on time are mad and obviously have too much money! I agree that rubber components will degrade over time, but unless a car is doing crazy low miles such components will last until the next inspection service. Replacing spark plugs based on time is just stupid, as is doing valve clearances.

BMW warranty isn’t an issue as long as the oil and brakes services are done every two years and inspection services are done on mileage.
If you don’t agree then fine, that’s up to you, but I’m happy following the service schedule as others do.

This has turned into a what people think is the best service regime thread rather than what the OP asked which was what service is due. As far as warranty is concerned, BMW will agree with srhutch and pvr. There is no argument about that, it’s been well tested over the years and discussed to death too. If you want to follow oil service, Insp 1, oil service, Insp 2 and so on then there may well merit in that. It’s what I’ve done up to now in the 10 plus years and 60k miles I’ve owned mine. That may change now that I’ve bought a daily beater.
