Service / Maintenance E89 Z4

Hi,

Having recently picked up my E89 Z4, I want to make sure I'm looking after it as it should be in terms of servicing and maintenance.

Are the services dictated by time & milage (every 2 years or certain milage, whichever is achieved first) and also the condition based services (whatever the car says it requires)?

Is there anything else that needs to be considered? For example my last car, a mk5 R32 had the service schedule of every year but also required the 4 wheel drive system and DSG gearbox to be serviced at 40,000 mile intervals.

Does the DCT need any attention or is everything looked after by the on board diagnostics?

The car has been well looked after, main dealer history and independent BMW garage with minor and major services carried out at the correct intervals so far. I just want to make sure it continues and nothing is missed.

Thanks for any help.

Condition Based Servicing.

Time passes, you do your miles, the car has a think about it and shouts if it wants something. Oil change or topping up, brake fluid change, brake pads, more air in the tyres etc. :D

Some owners prefer a more regular oil change just in case. Sorry can't help with the DCT.

Thanks for the input. I've emailed BMW to see what they say regarding the DCT and also things such as belts and diff oil.

Unless there are others that know??

Hi team :)

Quick question about service/maintenance please :
My z have now 125000 Kms, i dont have original service book (z from germany).
Anyone have a list (details) of maintenance service to do around 125 000 / 130 000 kms ? :headbang:

Thanks in advance

You can change the manual and diff oil, check for any oil leaking near valvetronic motor or eccentric shaft sensor, if yes then change the seals. Also check the suspension, oil leaking from adaptive dampers means they have to be replaced, front bushings may also need changing. Inspect the top for any hydraulic fluid leaking, if you find any, prepare for a large sum on repairs.... I also changed coils and spark plugs, but not really necessary. And of course oilchange every 10 000km.

Sorry nothing to do with your question, but how was your experience with the R32? I've always wanted to experience one of these, that V6 roar is glorious :driving:
