Service intervals - sorry if this is a repetitive question

Sorry if this has already been covered.
I have an z4mr which will cover less than 5000 miles a year,
I know the oil/break fluid is at least every two years regardless of mileage but is the inspection 1-2 every two years or do I follow the mileage indication?
If my next service is an oil service and I do it after two year but still have 6k on the clock do I get them to reset the clock.

I would say and just my opinion... I would follow the service schedule.. if you do less than 5000 or close to it then you will more or less have covered the right distance in two years..

If you were doing say 3000 miles a year then for my piece of mind i would get the oil changed every two years but would not expect the clock to be reset.

Oil and brake every two years, only ever resetting brake fluid clock. Follow the dash services on top, never resetting unless the two year interval and dash sensibly coincide. Simple!!

Ok thanks.
Regarding the inspections;
my local BMW dealer have told me its according to the dash or every two years which ever comes first, is this correct?

If iam right the inspections are mileage based according to the on board computer
The oil has to be changed every 2 years or if u do the mileage beforehand
Brake fluid every 2 years.

Thats what I thought but the stealership insist every 2years or mileage which ever comes first.
I don't want to compromise the full service history but the Service book contradicts what the stealership are saying.

My Z4MC had an oil service recently at a BMW MD. I had owned the car for two years and 5k miles by the time of servicing. The service indicator has been reset to show that the car needs an Insp2 in 15000 miles (or presumably two years).
I was chatting to the service reception fella and my car had an oil service as part of the pre-delivery AUC preparation. This oil service was about three months and 2000 miles after an Insp1. The service guy said I should really have been booked in for an insp2 (which I think was totally unnecessary after 8k miles from an insp1).
So it appears that your BMW dealer sings from the same hymn sheet as mine.

The ££££££ sheet!
I think I'm going to follow the service book which clearly states only the oil and brake fluid need to be done every two years.
It will still have fbmwsh according to the book and that's what new buyers will check

inspections alternate with a simple oil change on dash, they are talking crap. It could be years and years of low mileage driving before an inspection is due if you bought new or at the right time used ie. after an inspec 1 or 2 has just been done.

Mine is 5 years old now and Insp I will not be due until next year when it is going for it's bi-annual service. It will only be then that it reached the Inspection mileage of around the 23k mark.

I have done the bi-annual oil and brake fluid services though.

Why did they service the car, there was no need :?

If it had three months or 2000 miles till next service I would understand.

In that case I will only give you £10k for it :poke:

For the best, one owner, non pre-registered M? No chance

You might just get a journalist ragged 10 owner car for that, like yours :poke:

Simples!!!
Thanks

I would echo what PVR and others have done, and as will I do.

As my mileage wil be 3-4k a year oil every two years and Inspec 1 and 2 when mileage alone dictates.
