Service interval help needed - m coupe

Does any one know if a set interval guide inc tellyoung he need to do service every 2 years regardless of low miles/miles based servicing. I see lots of threads but was wondering if there was an official BMW statement.

I hoping to pick up a m coupe (z4) this week, but the service looks like it could be a year overdue. The car was bought from BMW last year so i hope its a missing stamp but will need to check with Bmw in the morning.

Run service done at 1026
First service 10k around 2009 (2007 march car)
Then nothing but at around 21k now

Understand it should now have inspection 1 just wondering impact of a 12 month delay.

Car looks good apart from this, and saw 4 in a day so did a good comparison.

But welcome any links or advice about this.....

Thanks in advance

Word of caution, buying from a BMW guarantees nothing AUC is worthless as it's down to dealer discretion. You need to check the service information yourself, don't take their word for it.

Bottom line brake fluid interval is 24 months.

An Oil service is required every 24 months if a service (condition based) is not required due to low mileage.

Normal service routine approx 13-15K

Oil > Inspection 1 > Oil > Inspection 2 > Oil > ..... and so on.

So brake fluid on the one you mention should have been done March 2012 and should have had two services Oil, and then probably Inspection 1, but maybe another oil as mileage is lowish.

Great thanks. My assumption in terms of risk is the engine due to 3 years with same oil and the diff oil (not sure when this gets changed after its replaced at the run in service)

The joys of car shopping!

I had the same dilema when i brought mine in December 2011.

In March this year i realised that the 2 years was up and spoke to BMW about this. They confirmed it needs to carried out every 2 years at the latest even though the mileage shows it is not due.

I brought the car from BMW and when i questions them, they did the service (inspection 1) for free as it should have been carried out before the sale.

so a little word of caution needs to be had with this rule.

Also be aware that any warranty could be void if the service schedules has not been adhered to. Which is what I used to reject my first ///M due to finding out it had missed a service by 8 months. Car was BMW AUC hence my earlier comment.

Brake fluid should of been done March 2009 and March 2011 not March 2012 unless i'm missing something?

Stu00, do you have links to the cars you looked at?

Thanks all for the replies much appreciated, I will find out further information in the morning, will post link once got the full low down, and hopefully some pics of a new purchase soon!

It says in the handbook it needs to be down at least every 2 years even if the mileage has not been achieved,
I phoned to book mine in at a BMW dealer because it has been two years and I still have 3000 miles to go, and argued with the service receptionist who said it didn't need doing, I even quoted the statement in the handbook, but she wasn't moving, I said it's people like you who get cars taken out of warranty because of not following the rules, I asked her to put it in writing that it was OK,
Funnily enough, she refused,
I booked it at another dealers.

Yes probably say that till all went wrong lol.

Is it the main hand book or where the service record is, sorry to ask

In the main 'Owner's Manual for Vehicle' (not the 'Supplementary Owner's Manual for BMW M') it says...
