Service history question

Hi all, am new to the forum and also potentially new to BMW ownership.
A looking for a Z4M and have seen a nice silver coupe on pistonheads classifieds.
My question is this... It's states full BMWSH, but lists the last service as an inspection 1 service at 17,510 miles on 4/8/2010. Current mileage is 26,000 miles.
Now as I understand it, service is every 2 years, and it will be 3 years next month since the last service was completed. Is this a potential problem with oil not being changed in 3 years.
I have been use to TVR ownership over past few years, and have always changed the oil every year, even though only covering say 3,000 miles a year. 3 years without an oil change tends to worry me slightly.
Any comments or views would be much appreciated.
Many thanks.

It's not ideal really. You would struggle to get a warranty from BMW for a start if that was of interest to you.

Depends how cheap it is I guess?? Has it definitely not had one?

Hi and welcome. Is it this one already being discussed?

Thanks for he replies, yes, is the same car as on other thread, sorry hadn't seen it.
Think I am going to leave it to be honest, could have lived with the interior, but get a bit paranoid about lack of servicing.
Just seen a nice immolation red one on eBay, but that was last service was done in 09.
It amazes me sometimes, people spend good money on a nice car, and then skimp on the essentials.

No problem. I wouldn’t buy that car either. The history and missing parts of it is a killer on these cars for resale. I just think generally people are idiots! Once these cars get a few years old and have a few owners people just don’t bother with keeping up with maintenance. Most would rather spend time cleaning and making it shiny than proper servicing. Keep checking on here as ones do come up for sale. It took me six months and many miles to find my car after seeing many shitters which were so called mint cars.

It's a real shame people end up neglecting these cars in this way. There were so few of them to start with and the market for proper enthusiasts is just gradually eroded completely unnecessarily :(

i thought that servicing was done on the service indicator(milage)not time scale but i change the oil every year as a matter of course.

Not quite correct. The official guidelines are the brake fluid and oil must be changed at least once every two years regardless of mileage.

yes i know but i was talking about the inspections,if it was i car i really wanted i would'nt be put off because the brake fluid had be missed!servicing imo seems to cause mass hysteria :o :o

It's really easy... Servicing is either done on the indicator, or every two years, whichever comes sooner. This applies to both oil and inspections. Brake fluid wouldn't really bother me if it's been longer than two years but I would want it done, or the cost of it factored into the price of the car, i.e. reduced.

Need to correct myself - on another thread it transpires only oil is needed every two years
