"Service Engine Soon" light reset question

Greetings,
I caused my "service engine soon" light to activate after I forgot to replace my engine oil dipstick after I changed my oil on my 2003 2.5i Z4 today. I ran it only for a few minutes before putting the dipstick back. Do I need to go to the Stealer or can I buy a reset tool? Which tool do you recommend? Thanks a bunch, Zinkster

If you refit the dipstick and complete about 10 drive cycles without the fault reoccuring the light will extinguish by itself. If you can live with the light for a while it works out cheaper!

10 cycles. Good to know. I thought it was three like on several other brands but found out that is bogus today....

On the way home from HC today, before we got out of the state of South Carolina, my SES light came on. No drivablity issues, so I just continued home to Virginia. I think I put, maybe six drive cycles on it on the way home and had great fuel mileage.

After I got home and unpacked the car, I hooked it up to the computer and it had a P0175 System Too Rich (Bank 2).
But the associated data did not make sense. It looked normal, so it must have been a spurious fault. I reset the light and has not reappeared...

Hey guys, so you are saying to do a reset, remove the dipstick and put back in, then start engine and drive car, is that considered 1 cycle :!:

Nope, one drive cycle is getting into your car in the morning and driving to work then leaving it for a while ( usually long enough for the engine to return to ambient temperature ). Second drive cycle would be driving it back home at night unless you went out in the car for lunch in which case the drive home at night would be drive cycle three! Hope this makes sense! Provided the same fault doesn't reoccur the ECU will drop the trouble code and extinguish the warning light after approximately ten drive cycles.

PS. You cannot drive the car for 100 metres, switch it off then restart it and drive another 100 metres and consider that two drive cycles. Just in case anyone was thinking of trying it!
