Service Dilemma

My z is due for its first service under my ownership. The car is a 2006 model with 12000 miles on it, and in excellent condition as you can imagine. The previous owner had the car serviced in 2010 rather than every two years, obviously due to the minimal amount of mileage that he was doing each year. My dilemma is this: Do i take it to the stealers to maintain the BM service history which i think would be a benefit should i ever sell it? The problem with that is silly cost for a six year old car, and the fact that they would carry out a service that would involve changing parts that i do not believe will need changing with such low mileage... Or do i go to an indie and get the oil changed and possibly brake fluid at a fraction of the cost although the service book will be stamped to reflect this?
Your thoughts my fellow zed ers would be greatly appreciated. :?

indy.

i care not for any bmw dealer stamps on cars that are no longer in warranty.

anyone who does has their head up their bottom.

take it to an idie and get everything done that returns it to a level playign field for you.

ill use my car as an example. it was maintianed BMW specialist (dont think they are a main dealer but all they do it BMW) then some where it stopped. so its a bit out of sync with its service. But when i bought it it had a full engine service performed. then it says it wants an inspection 1 so im going to take it to an indie that was recomended to me. they are going to do the bits of the inspection 1 that wasnt done when i bought it. im also getting the brake fluid done and getting them to do a visual inspection to tell me what they think. for me it levels the playing field of the servicing as i will consider it all to be up to date and then maitian it from there.

12,000 only requires an oil service.

Main dealer should be cheap. MY local dealer price matched £199 for Inspection 1 on my old 2.5si, so I would think £150 or less being a 4 pot.

Problem is you have lost the full service history as it was 4 years between servicing. Phone round and get some prices and haggle.
