Service book/schedule

I've just got my service book, as it came without one originally from the BMW dealer (AUC). They had to get a new one, then send it around to get stamped up by other dealers.

There is no PDI stamp now, which isn't too big a deal, but it says:

Oil Service - 14k miles
Inspection I - 28k miles

Then before I picked it up at 40k it had an oil service done as part of the AUC checks, as it was due soon (IIRC AUC says if due within 4.5k miles it gets done). They haven't stamped the book for this oil service, as they say it was done under AUC rather than service guidelines - but IMO it should have a stamp, as there will then be a potential 30k gap in service history. The salesman said he spoke to service, and they said it is correctly stamped, but I think it needs another stamp. Opinions?

Presumably the next service will then be Inspection II? The dealer is paying for it anyway, so I'd rather it is the big one. I won't hit the mileage, but I'll get it done 12 months from when I picked the car up, so it is still in warranty when it gets checked over. How much are warranty extensions?

To much and as for the stamps cannot see why they will not stamp it but stamps are worth nothing without the full service history so as long as your car has all the work that has been done show up on BMW network should be fine

I too had to get a new service book and my dealer says the same about the 'service' they gave the car when I picked it up. they could see the car's history in their computers so I'm not that worried...

I agree the warranty extensions are expensive (I was quoted about £700 a year...) - I didn't extend mine... but it comes down to personal choice in the end and how much you use the car etc.

I agree that it should have a stamp - why refuse if they've done the work properly, and that's what your next buyer will be thinking too :idunno:

With regard to warranty, it's up to you - I had over £3k of work done to my Z4 between the age of 12 and 18 months and all under warranty - wouldn't fancy paying for all that.

If you can accept paying a potential bill for £1k+ then don't renew, if it would be a problem then I would say renew it.
