Service 1 or 2?

Hi

I was just looking into my options for getting my car serviced when it's due in about 6,000 miles according to the OBC.

It's done 25,000 miles so far and the service book has been ticked as having brake fluid and an oil change which was done at 16,000 miles. However the BMW specialist that did the service only ticked the oil change and brake fluid boxes and not inspection 1 does this sound right? If so does it mean my next service which the OBC says is an inspection will be an inspection 1 rather than in inspection 2?

I don't really want to take it to the dealer i purchased it off of as i don't want to pay over the top BMW costs but I do want to make sure it has the correct service done by whoever I use.

Also if anyone can recomend a BMW specialist near Hemel Hempstead in Hertforshire it would be helpfull.

You can always call the dealer and ask them to look up your car, based upon age and current mileage what the next service will be, latest date and how much they expect it would cost.
 
I think the official service intervals are:

15,000 miles - Oil service
30,000 miles - Inspection 1
45,000 miles - Oil service
60,000 miles - Inspection 2

Brake fluid is time based and the service warning comes up every 2 years.

Of course the OBC varies it slightly according to oil condition but the general concensus seems to be that 15,000 miles is too long.

That makes sense as mine will have done just over 31,000 miles when it next gets serviced. So it looks like an inspection 1 which is cheaper luckily. Although I think it will probably need new front discs and pads by then
