Selling your cars

We sold the TTRS today and I always feel a bit sad when letting a car go, kind of like one of the family has moved on. Bit strange, but I guess other people are like that right...?! :?

If I could I would keep every car I’ve owned, good bad and indifferent.

I have sold a couple of bikes and felt that the people who bought them were not the people who should have got them.
But if they paid the money that I wanted how could I complain.

I tend not sell them I simply run them into the ground eventually. :)

I Advertised my Fiat coupe for sale after I had owned it seven years. Two guys drove from London to Cornwall to buy it. I took them for a spin, they offered me the full asking price and I gave them their petrol money and explained I simply wasn't ready to sell it yet. 2 1/2 years later the bottom end went pop and I gave it to the garage rather than pay for yet another expensive repair. That's  for you..

I've only ever sold one car and I don't think I'd ever do it again  not a private sale anyway. Too much effort and breaks your heart if you're attached to it.

I foolishly agreed to sell my 1st Si Coupe to someone who was looking for one on here (because I got upset by a big bill for a new water pump) and took it for a final drive - regretted selling it within the first couple of miles! :(

So that's when I went to look for it's replacement which I've had for over 3 years, but is for sale now.

I will definitely be sorry to see it go, but probably only until the next time I drive it's replacement - my MC!

Now you're going to break your baby, poor thing :(

I recently sold a Honda for a BMW and I was like "Oh gee there goes my old car with all those memories" Then I looked and the new X5 and went Pffft.

It's pretty heartbreaking stuff! A painful necessity, and I too wish I could just keep them all in a barn somewhere so I could reminisce on the first dates, the impromptu tear-ups with a stranger with a heavy foot, the aimless 200 mile drives that yield surprise views and dreamy roads...and all the painstaking cleaning and parking miles from everyone else...getting drenched after a 10 minute walk in the rain so my car didn't get door banged by that muddy Zafira.

There are some cars id have back, but broadly, i only sell a car if the one that follows is an upgrade. So the z4 is the best track car ive ever owned, and my remapped 330d is the best road car ive ever owned. Though i do miss my old 300zx turbo (when it was working), my 350z (but not the 27mpg av mpg) and my old remapped 335i (effortless speed, but only 28mpg av)

Blame used z4 values

I'm a reluctant to sell when it comes to my guitars.

Whenever I buy a new one I always intend to sell an old one but somehow it's hard to do. Depreciation isn't a real problem, often a guitar several years old will sell for at least what I paid for it.

Im the same, my trusty dc2 type r going this weekend after 16years of ownership.

I went for a drive on Sunday down my fave b roads, i even apologised to the car.

Us petrolheads are a unique bunch.
