Selling PX

Just sold the old Audi onto WBAC for £700 more than the dealer offered in PX. Pretty happy with that - it'll pay for some of those extras I added!

Personally I thought that WBAC's service was very courteous and professional, not sure where they get their bad reputation from. The chap I dealt with was polite and realistic about the damage to the vehicle, took £200 off the online valuation for some scuffs on the alloys, a scuff on the front bumper and some light paintwork damage and denting where my side sill had a disagreement with a large rock. All in all quite fair.

He did say they get a lot of chancers trying to palm off clocked cars and undeclared write-offs on them, and they get irate when they aren't given anywhere near the online valuation price, maybe it's these guys giving all the bad reviews!

Legally the dealer could take any amount in cash. However, over a certain amount money laundering rules apply and they would have to follow steps to ensure you are not doing that. Such as ID checks, background checks etc. this makes it difficult. Plus payments over 15000 euro equivalent you have to register with hmrc as high value dealer and report transactions. My dealer accept cash to limit but unlimited bank transfer which does count the same as cash as far as hmrc are concerned so must be registered anyway. I suspect these limits are being applied because the dealer doesn't want to pay bank charges on depositing the cash.

Yeah - this dealer is the same, I think its just to avoid cash handling fees. They'll take up to £1000 in cash, £1000 on a credit card (again presumably because of fees) but up to an unlimited amount via bank transfer or debit card.
