Sell with or without m-sport seats (plus other bits)

I'm currently in the process of selling my Z4, unfortunately, but only had one person view the car (who said it was amazing but opted for another with non run-flats and a different colour interior). It's currently up at £4,250 which I thought was good for an immaculate example.

It's here BTW: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=98412

What I did was put the car back to how I purchased it (with the added addition of Gaptech autohood) but what I'm wondering now is if it would sell easier if I included the following, which I purchased separately; black heated m-sport seats, cup holders, cruise control, ZHP gear knob. Obviously increasing the price.

What my original thinking was that the value of those extras would be approximately £1k and it possibly wouldn't add that much value to the car if I included it with it.

Any ideas?

The Seats will be the biggest earner, the rest all probably tot up to less than £200?

Knob £30? Cruise £80? Cup holders £50-60?

Id say seats @ £500 if theyre split mint - so i dont think youd get a grand

I think 10+ year old z4s are a niche car which fit into a niche market

Factor in some people only buy them for the nice weather which we haven't had this summer, makes your sale even harder :(

I would advertise the seats for £750 and I reckon £250ish for the other stuff (heating switch panel: £50, cruise control plus steering column: £120, pair cup holders inc vents: £100, knob: £50)

Of course it'll sell easier. Main thing that puts many people off are the se seats, se steering wheel. Yes you will not the money back for them in that sense but it would probably sell at 4.4 whereas now I doubt it will.

I'd pretty much second what Jamie_Z4 said. The knob, tims, cruise are nice and in the grand scheme of things don't add too much to the value, or that generated by selling separately. I'd sell them on the car, makes a nicer impression. Also may help to sell? I wanted a car with cruise and didn't realise how easy the retrofit was. The ZHP will also make for a nicer gear change when test driving? Also will stand apart from standard that may have been viewed previously?

The seats, M sport and heated are pretty "normal" in terms of M seats. If they're electric as well then you're onto a winner. These will go for more. If they're in an unusual colour then even more so, but I think you said they were black? Black heated electric M seats, I recon you could maybe go £750. Otherwise non electric £500 mark Jamie mentioned sounds about right.

i think your dreaming.

For example the knob brand new is £55 from BMW.

The cupholders are £35 each new as people already have the vents.

£750 for the seats? Some heated bi-tone leathers (albeit manual not electric) sold on ebay last week with door cards for £450.

Thanks for the quick reply. I think probably £500 max for manual ones but others may be prepared to spend more

If your planing on selling your car to a dealer then removing the nice add on's is a very good idea as a dealer will give you noubt for them, in place. If you are selling privately then they are just the sort of thing that private buyers may be looking for, so they will make it more likely that some one who has come to view the car, will chose your example over another. You may well get more for them separately but that won't help for a quick sale on the car. Swings and rounder bouts.

Thanks for this. Yeah, tricky one. I'm in no hurry to sell it so may leave it advertised for a month and see whether there's any interest. Failing that I may very well add the bits and bobs back on and see what happens then.

Appreciate everybody's help with this.

I'll second what buzyg says OP, sell private with goodies and it'll be snapped up. To a dealer bare bones is better. People won't even bother looking if it's SE seats. Spec doesn't add to the value, just makes it more desirable
these was someone on here looking for a z4 for 4-5k the other day though, might be worth a message

If you are in no rush and the bits are off, then sell them to the people above who have shown interest. Money is in the bank that way.
A car with all the bits on will sell quicker but you said you were in no rush.

You could always do what I do and just store the bits in the garage saying I'll put them on eBay one day!

I'd stick it all back on and advertise at say £4,750. See if you get any interest. At least that way your getting another £500 for the bits and the car might go quickly as a more desirable specced up example. It's getting a bit late in the season now so I be looking to get it gone quickly and an extra £500 without the hassle of individual parts to sell at this point seems a bit of a win win.

Tough call really. :?

To someone on here they are going to want those bits on the car, but on other sites like AutoTrader they probably don't appreciate the difference!

Only other option might be to advertise it as original at one price, and with the goodies for another?

Yeah, I was thinking the same :)

It's a catch 22. The thing you don't know is would it have sold at your original asking price with the goodies fitted or not. No way of knowing other than to fit them back on ask a bit more and see what happens
