Sell or Sorn ? Twist or stick ? 2008 82k M roady

Simply keep it and keep enjoying it. My Zeds another weekend warrior that does more miles than the daily. It's just such a special car, I keep it ready to role through the winter, never know when the sun will be out They are tough cars the engine for sure can handle 150k miles, for sure that's going to knock money of the value, but not as much as changing your car ever 18 months can cost. So as long as your enjoying it, keep driving it. :driving:

I dont disagree at all....

But he has got an M and thinking of getting rid.... so what can be had for similar money?

Would i sell and buy a more expensive one ? Nope, whats the point in sitting in exactly the same thing but has cost you more money ??

I get you dont like the 35is..... and thats fine, but come on.....In what situation on the road have you ever thought that the engine power is overwhelming the chassis ?
And i didnt imply that "you" wanted 800bhp out of the car,i merely said that guys in US are achieving that power with no chassis mods...

Just like the M car,the 35is is not a car you can get in and have the full experience in a day or a few days imho.. You have to drive them differently and get used to how the car, suspension and tranny works to get the best out of the car... like when a newbie jumps in a Z4M and the suspension continually mashes his/her head into the roof and the poor gear changes get on your nerves, they say the 3.0si is a better car for half the money...

Ok. Fair points. I don't dislike the 35iS. I just don't rate it as a serious contender in the "weekend fun" type category. That's not what it was designed for,
or intended for, IMO. I bet it's a pretty good car for a daily driver, which sees time as a weekend fun car as a secondary use.

Aye...

Agree to disagree and all that..

I think the Z4M coupe is an awesome car, and the back end is a thing of beauty... But they have serious misgivings, the suspension being the worst for me... Everything else is good to go...

But let's not get into what's best at what, they are different cars and each will have fans depending on the usage...but I know roof off motoring with 400bhp is fun, whether it's a weekend or not..

If you get a e89 35is, I would budget for a diff as in my experience, they desperately need one. Too much power for one wheel drive!

The E89 35is is a very different car. A much more pleasant every day car and great for long distances, but none of the M car thrills.

It isn't quicker than the Z4M though as standard. Sport Auto have the Z4m Roady at 17.1 to 200kph, the 35is DCT a second slower. Very close tbh, nothing in it.

Both lovely cars.

Forum Rules... You have to put a price on your advert :poke:

Sell or Sorn implies a price equivalent to the road tax, so £495 :P

I suppose it depends what the ///M is to you . . . .

If it's everything you want then keep it and put miles on and enjoy . . . .but if it's going to be an investment to be used to trade for the future then do as you've always done and keep trading . . . .

I have difficulty with this same quandary as I'm using my Zed 12K a year leisure and want to continue. If I invest a further £5K in an ///M then that comes with all the associated ///M costs on top of which I end up with a high mileage ///M needing a front end re-spray, worth very little.
You mentioned the 3.0si; at present, this offers the best compromise in performance and running cost for me. Doesn't mean I might not consider ///M ownership in the future though. We shall see. . . .

Why not just compare them? http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/dp3s84b1lhjh 17.0 for the Z4 M Roady vs 17.1 for the i35is to 200kph.

But there are lots of figures out there, I would rather stick to one source and up to 200kph gives both more of chance to get into their stride.

Stay away from the US figures too! The ones that have the new MX5 at 5 seconds to sixty

Anyway, the point is they are comparable, near as damm it the same. But the delivery couldn't be more different...

Don't be so fucking stupid WilkyBoy, break the habit - don't sell it just because that's what you do with your cars normally :P ;)

Truth here no schmoooze  the plan over summer was always to get out & about as much as i wanted before France in Oct then sell on my return but i'm just not ready to part company .
I think my plan to sell & get into a lower mile one ( or E89) would work but i'm concerned that it wouldn't have the same spec , colour combo & possibly not even drive the same ?
So it will be getting a good clean as planned this weekend but won't be heading for the classifieds
Probably drop it at my Indy pal to check it over then garage it still taxed as i know there will be days i want to use it through winter
No roadtrips planned over the next 3 months so my target is to add around 500 miles in that time  ok let's say 1000 by end Jan meaning come Feb it would be on 83500ish
Just need to resist either Eventuri or Gruppe induction

Here is the simple logic putting aside any emotional issues wrt your M -which are quite frankly irrelevant
If you can get more or less your money back now- then its a no brainer as you've got cash in hand and hence in the best possible position to do a keen deal buying into another convertable at this time of year .
If however you are buying into a tin top instead then it obviously makes more sense to sell in Spring and jsut SORN it meanwhile while you decide what you want instead .
If you are intending to stick then given the cost of the road tax it makes no sense to keep it on the road in the winter when you work out how many days you will realistically be able to have fun with the roof down at this time of year -it is a raodster after all not a tin top so not much point drving around with hood up .
