Ok, so I have a week off starting a week monday and am planning a self service for the Z. It's a 2003 3.0L with currently 52k on clock.

I currently have what I believe to be a foobarred wheel bearing (a hell of a lot of road noise increasing/decreasing with speed). Also car isn't very stable through the stearing wheel...espec. on the bumpy Welsh B-roads (being pulled all over the place)....So thinking ARB bushes?

Disks are not in great shape either with ridges and feels spongey.

So! Will be posting pics through the service and hopefully you guys can assist if I need advice - will be following the guides on here.

Feel free to comment on any other things (will be doing oil/filters etc) that I should do. Will be sourcig parts from ebay/gsf/ecp.

Plenty to be getting on with tomorrow, once this lovely Welsh weather brightens a little!

Wheel bearing will be a bitch!! Not sure about the bushes but the rest easy. You will actually enjoy yourself. My breaks where are loads better i put the same kit as you on. Bleeding the breaks properly makes all the difference. When it comes to that spongy feeling

Why not change your 10 yr old gearbox oil and remove the clutch delay valve while your at it? Costs about £30 and easily done.

Just done this and very pleased with the result

Yea I'm planning on doing exactly that...will be going to an indy for the bearing and will ask how much he'd charge, otherwise I'll give it a go!

Well i spent all day on the car..managed arb bushes and lollipop bushes, and just about managed front discs/pads. Pretty much EVERY bolt was seized!! Had to drill out the screws that hold the disc to hub in the end.

So took it for a spin now and handling has improved a lot. BUT, when braking I'm getting a Splashing sound as if theres a tank half full of water in the car, any ideas? I used a syringe so that I didnt haveto bleed the brakes, but could I have got sone air in?

:(

Wheel bearing not a common failure on these cars. Unless you have definite excess play in it more likely tyre noise you have not a wheel bearing.

Wonder if soneone can help.... everytime the car goes over any kind of bump there is a loud rattle as if something is very loose. I changed arb bushes, control arm bushes and front disks/pads. Looked for a loose bolt but cant see anything.. springs seem to be sat correctly?? It a consistent rattle thatis quite loud. :headbang:
