seen a car, hate the wheels

Bluespit, there do seem to be a number of cars knocking around within your travel radius. However do you have some specific requirements such as colour, wheels, sat nav, auto/man etc that you haven't mention that are limiting factors. Do you not have anyone to "cover" for you at home if you found a car a little further a field. Would seem a shame to miss out on a car for the sake of an extra hour or so travel time.

CJ - the car I like the look of is listed in the far sale section on here and on gumtree

https://www.gumtree.com/p/bmw/bmw-z4-2004-3.0-manual-e85-82k-convertible-red-leathers/1185058158

chap will jiggle a little on price too (not much though).

A very kind offer, thanks

Mack. As far as I know I've looked at or discounted every car listed on auto trader, gumtree, eBay, and forum ads. any more suggestions?

get the violins out but we have no family locally so it's me and SWMBO. Certainly not a dire situation and yes things are improving health wise but I'm a tad impatient and would prefer a solution sooner rather than later

cheers

Crying shame that car is a bit far from you, about 80 miles or so from Batley to Chester and then there's always the risk of a hold up on the M56/60/62 etc. I Wouldn't normally suggest this, but given your circumstances and if you trust the seller have you considered asking them to meet you halfway or even come to you. Might be worth a shot if you agree the T&C's up front.

yep I'd thought of that. very tempted to ask him to deliver (i'd pay obviously)

car is currently in Birmingham not Yorkshire

I even like the wheels!

its probably about the same distance but potentially easier for him to get back to Birmingham on public transport than Batley. Might be worth a shot, must be tempting for the seller if hes going to walk away with circa £5k in his pocket. Plus it suits you, even if you found a car within your travel radius, obviously there is no guarantee you wouldn't get caught in bad traffic etc

Just buy the car on your doorstep!!

Seems to me......
You can't be bothered to wait.
It's sunny next week. That's a classic.
You don't do public transport.
You won't travel far.
You don't have any time.
You have money.

Just buy the car and some nice wheels for it.

Do you know where in Birmingham? Huge place that can take me 15 mins to 2 hours to get to depending upon where

BTW - the car has the grey plastic interior, less favoured by some. Think it was only on '03 and 04's before dropped.

While the the sterling grey one seems good at the price, your heart now seems set on the black one. I'd try and find a way of working something out with the seller either, as suggested, a half way meet or get a firm offer agreed in principle and figure some way of viewing the car. If your heart is in this one you will always feel you 'settled' for the more local car.

sums it up - I never said I was smart though! impatient - yes

Yorkie - I Love an 'Occam's razor' analysis. Bang one so took your analysis and bought the grey/silver one late last night.

now sitting in my garage - 10 hours without a Z! and the sun shining!!

thanks all for your help and patience

now I need alloys and to do something about the seats

Cheers

Pleased you got to a decision and it's already in the garage.

I'm sure the wheels will find a buyer. They are popular wheels in some circles.

Congrats! Now you just got to find some wheels and seats that aren't pickup only! :P

or that are within an hour each way. simples.

thanks again, I know I've been a pain but I'm not that bad really

Glad you got sorted- are you putting your original lights back on? If so the sale of the wheels and the other lights could well fund new wheels and heated seats!

they do look nice not interested in the tyres though, mine are almost new.

Also they look in need of a refurb at another £200. that makes then a tad expensive, at £850 plus delivery - yikes

Strange how 2 people see different things :? they are a used set of wheels & actually look in more than good enough condition to fit as they are
You see the deal at £850 ?
They're offered at £575 ? You don't want the tyres ?
Buy the set around £525 ? swap the tyres from the current Schnitzer wheels you want rid of
List the Schnitzers at £400 on ebay or gumtree & I think you would sell close to that figure if they aren't too shabby & you've had a major wheel upgrade for well under £200
If you are looking for total mint alloys then I would look at CM Wheels or BMautosport for some decent aftermarkets that you could still switch the current tyres onto & sell the Schnitzers as wheel's only

seat wise, these might be of interest
