seen a car, hate the wheels

yes I have them in my E89 which is going on Wednesday. Theres a thread on here about fitting heated seats that looks a faff but do-able so its not a deal breaker for me

are they not pucca ac schnizer wheels??, they look very close match :?

if they are, then worth enough to sell them on for a few quid
they will be stamped/ embossed schnizer somewhere to be seen

FYI that cars been for sale at that price for a few weeks as well so may have some negotiation wiggle room  (is or was on Autotrader as well but think the advert expired)

As CJ noted earlier those are not OEM lights- owber preference but I'd be building in the cost of replacement (circa £300 off ebay). Also missing the 'French fries' off the rear lights- again owner preference but I'd ask if he still has them so you can reinstate them.

so we think its been 'messed with'?

still can't see these french fries unless they're crescent shaped things running sort of up and down?

trouble is I can't find anything better....and I'm getting itchy

just done my last 130 miles in my E89 before its goes tomorrow then I'm tin bound! (i.e. no open top)

Wouldn't say messed about with- lots on here take the the French fries (the curved up and down bit) off as they prefer the look, I just think they are a key part of the design. Easily re-added.
The lights again are in some eyes an improvement- some on here may do you a straight swap for their originals if you wanted to go back OEM. Don't rule the car out without seeing it- looks good generally.

I have seen and driven it - looks well and drives well. just the issues I mentioned in my first post, light ticking (injectors?), odd wheels and no bum warmers. Body nice and straight apart from an odd pull on the rear wheel arch. Looks to have been pulled out not bashed in. Dent master might sort it

we have a partial deal that I'm mulling over that includes the original lights and an out door cover - that I won't need. no idea about the french fries though - didn't know they were missing. price much closer to £4k

If i could be into better rims for another couple of hundred then I'd be interested. Mr Wilkes usually has some wheels on the go but heard nothing.

what to do, what to do..... :violent1:

Sounds like you have struck a reasonable deal and that you like the car. At that price you won't lose much money come resale time if and when you decide to move on. Cheap way into a z. On a side note, to get heated seats you would need to replace the entire seats but car will be wired at that age.

Thanks for taking the time to chat.

yes I like the car - I've looked at 5 since last week and I think this is the best. (although I'd love to see the black and red on listed in Birmingham but its too far away)

you have to context my dilemma, I'm going from and 28i E89 which is 2 years old into this one. We have to change SWMBOs car for an auto due to injury and the Z is adding value to the deal. Getting a very nice auto 4 series convertible so I'm not complaining too much. The Z will be my drop top toy

theres a thread about DIY heated seats that look very do-able over the winter

Always happy to chat and help a member out- I get your circumstances, the z looks nice and easy to make what you want. The heated seats have to be new seats as the car will have wiring but seats don't have the Mat. But heated seats aren't a must, love them in my daily X5 but never missed them in my z, and with ///m sport-seats I won't be changing.

Jmo but if you don't actually need to replace the 89 as of the same day then sit tight .
Have the cash ready & watch + wait , I guarantee the right car will come along
You have a decent budget heading into buyers primetime so don't twist if you can stick

OP is in a difficult set of circumstances. He is limited in the cars he can see.

At this point in time, I'm assuming things will get better. Winter is coming so these will also get cheaper as mr wilks hints at. If time is an issue how often will it get used at present?

I appreciate that but if the car is to be a low use weekend hobby car then hold back for a while & patience will bring reward .
The current chosen car may tick the most boxes now but its the ones it doesn't tick that will cost the £
A train ticket is £30-£40 & gets you to most places in a morning , rarely does a gem pop up on your doorstep

I don't NEED to replace on the same day I have a 5 series for day duty and even a TR6 for some open top weekend stuff. But I hate to waste a nice sunny commute under a tin roof and the forecast is looking quite good for the next week or so. (After the weekend)

Yes my viewing radius is limited to about 3 hours, that's an hour there, one to view and one more to get back. So from me that's Manchester, Shrewsbury, Liverpool and most of north wales.

Train? Isn't that public transport? Yuk! (Sorry). It's not a lack of mobility it's time away from home that's the problem.

Thing is even a national search doesn't show anything significantly different.

I guess in November there may be some better cars price wise but who sells then unless they must?

There is always somebody who must sell, so in winter they lose even more. I know I'm a fine one to talk when buying a car, but if it's not ticking all the boxes hang fire. Perhaps the black and red one will drop a bit.

I assume you will get more time over the coming months.

Where abouts is the Birmingham car? Big city and area but if North/East I'd take a look for you and give a first opinion if it's one to go for

Btw - you mention heated seats - easy Winter project.
