Secondary air pump keeps running.

Hi all, I have an 03 3.0i, last night after I turn the car off the SAP continued to run for about 3 minutes.
Has anyone else had this issue and was it the relay?

Thanks,
Steve.

It should only run for a short limited time from a cold start, turns off when running temp is achieved and trhe ECM takes control of the fueling. Why it should turn itself on after its already up to temp if I understand you correctly may well be a stuck relay keeping it on.
If your in the UK then we don't really need that system, you could remove it and cap the connection at the connection on the head with a blanking plate.

Thank you. It must be electrical cause I started the car up today and when I turned it off everything was fine. For the price of a relay I might just change it.

Blanking off the secondary air pump is a fine idea, but it does require altering the map on the ECU to avoid throwing a code.
The O2 sensors measure the extra air in the exhaust at startup. Without the system in place, after three or so starts, the system throws a code for insufficient output from the secondary air pump.
