Second key

I bought the car with only one key unfortunately. Whilst it is working ok at present I wonder what the most cost effective route is to give my sole key a backup playmate should anything fail on the first key? I would rather have two.

BMW themselves will want maybe a couple of hundred I am guessing?

Have seen an old thread about BMW themselves having a certain number of keys stored for each car and that I may have to request this - wonder how much that will be?

If nobody knows I'll perhaps call a dealer and ask the question.

I'm in the same situation, only 1 key, but that 1 key is dead, tried the recharging tricks also. still £130 sounds better than £200 I have seen mentioned.

I am in the midlands. Lichfield (north of Birmingham).

The £130 seemed to be what a couple of online places quoted. Two or three day turnaround. £99 plus VAT some of them referred to.

Thats not far off The Master Locksmith, so good value for a BMW price.
