Second hand z4

I'm considering buying a second hand z4 3.0i. Probably have about £6,000 to spend so far likely to 50,000/60,000 miles on it. Looking for advice. Bad idea? Things to watch out for? Still a good purchase at that age / price? Thanks for any help!

Hi Allanmmac, a z4 130i doesn't exist to my knowledge so I'm not sure what model you are interested in?
There are some great guides on here to read if you use the search function, good luck looking-they are great cars

Aye, right enough. It's a 3.0i I'm looking at. :? Thanks for the steer and the links. :)

Ah, 50/60k is nothing for a 3litre zed-if it's been looked after with regular servicing these cars can go past 200k with no serious issues. They seem to suffer from niggles more than terminal maladies (roof motors, broken springs) whilst still annoying they are not insurmountable and you get suprising economy with a healthy amount of shove from these cars.

My 3.0i is approaching 100k and runs great.

Only issue's i've had are cracked expansion tank, leaking thermostat (possibly the gasket, but I just changed the lot for peace of mind) and rocker cover gasket.

I currently have a cold start rough running issue which is a dodgy sensor, but nothing serious.

I bought my 2008 3.0si with 54000 miles on it last year and its now on 65K. Buying a relatively high mileage example was the only way I could get hold of a facelift model. The point being I bought with confidence and will keep racking up the miles. Regular maintenance and keeping it in top mechanical condition more important than mileage with the Z4. Good luck with your search.

Mine has 105k on it now, and runs sweet as a nut :D

As you as you look after it it will keep going and going.
