Seats

I have a 2003 3.0i with power seats on both sides. The seats are worst part of my interior, I was wondering if there are any seats that could be used in the Z4. Since I am racing the car on track days some thing more psorty with more lateral grip would be better.

I have read the post about the M interior swap however in my country is quite impossible to find a donnor car. I was also interested in the BMW Performace seats but the BMW Turkey has advised that they can't be installed in Z4?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I have seen Recaro seats in the carbon fiber coupe, so it CAN be done. Not sure how much effort it took, though.

I'd have to agree, the SE seats do lack lateral grip. I'd thought about changing mine for sports seats but the dealer quoted me - not including fitting or any parts needed for fitting, so just for the seats - £5k.

Mine are beige so finding a donor car is also unlikely for me. I will go and speak to a local saddler at some point to see if he can add side support but I'm not optimistic.

I prefer the SE seats I have to the M Sport seats - not tried the actual M seats but M Sport seats i find horrendously uncomfortable.

Please let me know the outcome I can decide to modify the existing seats as well.

Why do you find them so uncomfortable? I switched from standard to ///M and they are a world better, especially in the lateral support.

I have to agree with you alex - I tried the M sport a couple of weeks ago and I found it very tight and said this to the guy at BMW. Tried the SE seats and found them a lot better - but then again they didn't hold you in at all.

P.S. I'm not fat!! :P

6' 13 stone (and a tad, but all muscle..lol) and they are an awesome fit. Converted from the standard and love 'em.
So much more supporting on longer journeys too.

It took me over a weak to find a comfortable seating position in the m-sport seats. Once I did however

They are very supportive so I guess some people might find them tight depending on the position they have the seat.

You gents got me curious and I had to look up how much a "stone" is (14 lbs. by our Yankee measure)... So I'm 6'-2" and weigh in at 11 stones.

I love the M seats :) — though still fidget with them a bit looking for the right fit combo. I have a long drive coming up which will be a good test.

Cheers.

I'm sure FemmeT fitted Recaro Pole Positions in her Alpina. That's the route I'm hoping to take at some point so I might have some nice Alpina seats for sale!

11 stone and 6' 2"? You should be sliding right out of those seats! :D

I also find them a tight fit, they are fine most of the time with one layer of clothing on my torso but if wearing a thick top they feel very tight.
