Here's the question: Do you put on your seatbelt to back out of the garage onto the driveway ?
If you have just had a full reprogram on an E89, you DO now !!
some little glitch in the programming kicks the tranny back into Park as soon as you take the foot off the brake.... :x :x :x
I couldn't get out of the garage, pushed it out and (caught it before it rolled across the street) played around in the driveway....if I put the foot on the brake and feathered the throttle I could move the car around, foot off brake = immediate stop. (plus neck jerk etc)
Called BMW (just got the car back yesterday evening from a major failure caused by a loose ground), flatdeck arrived and we took it to the other dealership (no way it was going back to the first one) , got there, unloaded it , the young lady I called (to warn her I was coming) came out
and said " I've been doing some digging and talked to my shop foreman.....were you wearing your seatbelt? "" No of coourse not, I was in my garage. " Try it with the seatbelt...... I walked over, jumped into the lame car and proceeded to do a hot lap around the BMW dealership "avec seatbelt". Then she tells me " the new programming has a glitch, they are only supposed to use it if absolutely necessary AND they are supposed to tell you of the glitch."
It will be fixed with the upcoming (whenever) software but in the meantme it just cost BMW 3 hours of my time, a flatdeck ride across Calgary, and the delivery of my pickup truck back to my house (across Calgary while I drove the Zed for the last time this year as the November snow is scheduled for tonight.) There are two BMW dealerships in Calgary, both owned by the same principle, the south one, Calgary BMW is the only one worth dealing with after this foofrah....at least they tell you sh*t you need to know.
