If I drive over 5mph without the passenger seatbelt buckled up, the dashboard chimes. I understand this is to annoy you into putting it on, but my problem is that it also does this when I DON'T HAVE A PASSENGER!

Any ideas whats causing this?

Thanks Navid.

Ah so that's the symptom of dreaded occupancy sensor I've so much about on here. So you reckon giving the seat base a good punch might 'reset' it?

You haven't put a bag on the seat next to you by any chance?

No, my other half has her own car! (just joking sarah, in case you read this)

Seriously though, its been like that since I picked it up. Does it every time. The heaviest thing that sits in the seat is usually my mobile!

Sound like someone has fited a bypass sensor to the seat to cheaply, and incorrectly, repair an occupancy sensor mat fail.

imp75, not sure which year your car is, but if it's facelift then I have an occupancy sensor spare - when I replaced one in M-Sport seats, although it won't be the best fit in standard seats.

As for what to do, it's quite easy, just fiddly - there's a link through my signature... usual principal applies, if I can do it, anyone can do it

That's much appreciated pawnsacrifice! It's a 55 plate, so pre facelift. And they're standard seats so your generosity would be better placed elsewhere. Thanks anyway.

How much do mats cost? Is it potentially an issue where the connections have come loose?
