Seatbelt Bypass

Main agent or specialist BMW garage then to use the more sophisticated systems to check which loom, control module or component is triggering the fault.

Went to the auto electricians a couple of days ago to find out the fault.....turns out the seat belt pre-tensioner I bought off the interweb was infact faulty....only my luck!!! :headbang: Ordered a new one from BMW direct. No more pissing about...

Result :)
That's of courae the risk with ebay vs getting new

yep. called the company who sold me it and they were adamant that it was working well when they sent it. Was a bit of an argument I had with the supplier outside the auto electricians when I found out but they promised to send me a replacement...However, going to try and get my money back instead as I dont need another one.

Lesson learned. Overall, cost me more for the fees of the auto electrician, 60 mile round trips to the garage to see if they could clear the code and the cost of a faulty component than it would have cost to just buy one new and direct from BMW. wont be doing that again!

Hi Ricardo1992, did you get this sorted yet ?

Managed to get it sorted thanks. :D took it up to a local garage who managed to clear the code first time with the pre-tensioner bought from BMW. lesson learned! Never buy anything second hand which is electrical for modern cars....there is too much which could go wrong.

Still waiting for my refund from the scrap yard. They promised me it today but yet to receive a penny. Were adamant that they sent a working pre-tensioner to me however this was not the case. Told me to send it back so they could test it but from the conversation I had on the phone with them today, they did not test it. I would take an educated guess and say they don't actually employ any staff which can in fact test it. I will avoid in the future buying anything from them after the hassle I've had to go through to receive my refund. The overall cost has been extortionate.

Company: Car-Transplants located in Cheshire...

eBay/paypal claim?

unfortunately it was done through neither. over the phone and not even on a credit card. will call up again tomorrow and fingers crossed they will refund. otherwise it will be the trading standards route... :(

When ever I have dealt with trading standards they have been next to useless. If you're confident the scrappy won't go anywhere then go down the small claims route, but they'll need some assets to leverage against.

Thanks! Will take note.

The refund for the cost of the seatbelt pretensioner finally went through. Turned out the guy on the other end of the line put in the wrong bank details.... better than nothing! :D
