Seat recovering

Hey, I've not purchased yet, and I've searched the forum but no luck, does anyone have experience of having the seats re-leathered or is it a case of buying new ones (if that's even an option?).

I've searched about, and there seems to be a few companies who offer this, but would be keen to hear from anyone who has done this already. I'm looking for a Coupe and thinking that if this is an option then is broadens my choice in terms of what's available.

Thx.

There's a few options for replacing the seats that'd probably be as cheap as getting them leathered!

The for sale section on the forum, eBay or any of the breakers usually have some seats available.

Some have replaced the Z4 seats with 3 series seats or other seats with a bit of effort.

Lots of upholsterers about that would do car interiors, I've always wanted to get mine done in caramel, would be great to have brand new leather
Edit: I think it costs 1-2k

It’s not cheap though, and then you’ll probably want the door cards and other trim recovered to match.

It’s sometimes simpler to buy seats in the colour you want (if they’re available) and then sell your own on to offset the cost.

Even just doing the central padding cushions in my Recaro buckets in champagne alcantara, I’m looking at £600.

If the leather is just worn and not split right through you could use a refinishing kit. Many owners on here have done this and the seats look like new, a very cheap option.
If you use the search engine you should be able to find before and after pics.

The cost of GOOD quality leather hide which are all now treated not to absorb liquids has become quite expensive.

I’m having the alu trim all recovered & stiched in leather... even that is coming out to a few hundred pounds!!!

Had mine done by Trimtechnik (based Liverpool area) - seats, headrests, and door insets = £960 all in. The company did an excellent job, reconnecting heated components. They had the car for the day, but they were really good.

Just a straight replacement as the bolsters were finished.....nothing interesting about pics of a seat though!
