Seat Leon Mk3

Thinking about my next car and what I may replace the zed with (in a year or two). Those who know me know that I overthink in advance (chose the zed in 2010 bought it in 2012!).

One of the more practical but stick stylish options I am looking at is the Seat Leon Mk3 FR DSG

Unfortunately you cant have the FR in the 1.2 or 1.4 petrol variants which I would have preferred so would be looking at the 1.8 TSI DSG...

Thoughts?

I had a MK2 FR TDi 170 for a while and a very good car, quick and sits well on the road. But, and it's a big but which spoilt it for me was that FWD traction was badly compromised in the wet i.e. 70% of the time in the UK :(
Take off from junctions or roundabouts can be a real pain, even short sharp overtakes can see the traction control kicking in when it just wouldn't happen in a decent RWD. I resolved not to buy a VW/Audi/Seat with that sort of poke without 4WD but do appreciate part of the problem was the huge torque from the TDi. Maybe it's sorted on a petrol with a better diff set-up?

Dsg is a good auto box, but get rid of it before 60k.
Very expensive to repair. How is the interior/dash of the new leon, i have always found them very boring and plasticky?

Interesting comments, thanks for the feedback. I'm still torn between the 1.2 and the 1.8. Looking at the figures there isnt a lot in it..

Model 0-60 mph Top Speed BHP Weight P/W Torque Urban MPG Motorway Length Width Height CO2 VED Band Insurance Group
1.2 TSI SE 5d DSG 9.9 secs 119 mph 103 bhp 1147 kg 89 bhp /t 129 lb/ft 44 mpg 50 mpg 56 mpg 4263 mm 1816 mm 1459 mm 112 g/km C 13
1.8 TSI FR 5d DSG 7.0 secs 139 mph 177 bhp 1246 kg 142 bhp /t 184 lb/ft 36 mpg 38 mpg 40 mpg 4271 mm 1816 mm 1444 mm 132 g/km E 25

Especially for what I intend to use it for (mainly town driving). But the looks are much nicer on the FR and it makes it feel a bit more special..

Interior is ok:

I would probably go for the alcantara if I could find it:

Not going to blow you away but not too bland either.
