Seat differences (boggo vs sports)

But having sat in a z4m car only a few times ive noticed u sit really low down

but in my car with the bogo (but better) standard seats...it seems that even on the lowest setting im not really "cocooned" as it were?
just feel like im a tad too high and dont get that kinda low down safe feel?
are the seats higher?

Don't know about in the Z (only ever driven mine with the M seats) but when I had a 128 as a loaner, I felt like I was sitting up on a rather tall stool rather than down in the car. Not to mention the side bolsters were non-existent.

Woots your perception is correct. Although the bases of the 2 types of seat are the same and interchangeable the squabs are different.

The ///M has less padding on its base and more side support. In effect letting you sit deeper in the seat rather than on top of it.

Ohhhh....thought i was just gettin too bootylicious or summin hahah!!
Oh well....bit rubbish to make a seat not as good in the first place...why not just fit sports ones in all of them...would probs cost less to make one seat type rather than 2?
But i guess bmw have to make money somehow

Its cattering to the 'larger' american market probably

I give a large mate of mine a lift to work sometimes (i know, i do my bit for the less fortunate) and he litterally wedges into the seat

Dreamers right - larger people would struggle with sports seats. Mrs CJ on the other hand used to slide off the standard seats under good cornering. It also of course does differentiates models and allows upsell by dealers.

I got the info in this instance by stripping my seat bases and backs off and rebuilding them onto ///M seats that I fitted. I was amazed that even though the bases are identical (just vary with manual or electric) the actual seat structure is very different.
