Seat difference between coupe and roadster

Hmmm, looking to get something more stylish than my 130iM Sport and thinking about a Z4 again.
It's a while ago now but seem to remember that whilst the roadster was a comfy fit for my 6'4" the coupe was unmanageable.
The seat base went back far enough but the seat back seemed to come against the rear bulkhead meaning I was actually tilted forward in m=the seat !
Or did I miss an adjustment somewhere ?
Anyone else tried the two ?
 
I've had both roadster and coupe and dont think there is any difference?? Might be wrong though? :?
 
I agree with JDM - absolutely no difference from what I could tell. Perhaps you tried 'SE' seats and 'Sport' seats?

I can only speak with experience of the coupe, but it is VERY tight for the taller person. I'm 6 foot tall, and always found my knees were almost touching the dash!

Slightly (OK totally) off topic but I see you're from Yarm. Eaglecliffe here and picking up a silver grey Coupe tomorrow, may see you around :thumbsup:

Not tried the roadster - but yes I have that self-same problem (electric M sports seats).
This can be helped by not having the seats as low as possible - raise them up a bit & this helps.
Still not perfect though, but OK for 3 hour stints at a time.
 
Back on topic there are 2 seat variations aren't there? There seems to be seats with a seperate headrest and some that are more an all in one sports seat? (M seats maybe?). I could be wrong but even the coupes I have seen (admittedly in photos) seem to have slight differences no?

May do mate...got a quad exhaust set up and some 19" staggered alloys...I'll give you a wave if I see you!
 
Yup, as far as I'm aware there are only 2 types of seat.

M Sports seats: the head rest is integrated into the body and there's an extending part under your thighs. These are the more desirable. They have higher bolsters and offer more support.

Standard sports seats: you can remove the head rest.

You can find both types on roadsters.

Not sure about coupes though.

But something's strange for sure - one 6 footer is jammed up against the dash, and someone a few inches taller (like me) fits fine ?
Must admit my height is in my legs rather than torso but looks like I'll have to try and find a coupe locally to try.
I did fit in my old Mk1 TT quite happily (though kept bashing the ol' noggin getting in and out).

Anyone near Glastonbury ?
 
surely there is no difference in the raodster to the coupe, internally they are the same car, the difference is what style of seat the car comes with

It's because I had mine on the lowest setting. I never like to raise my seats! :rofl:

The external height of roadster is higher, only assume same for internal dimension.

Also seem to recall seat movement is different between the manual and electric seats, but could be wrong on this last point.

I've encountered the same. Before I got my M Coupe, I was coaxed into test driving the M Roadster (as in, they left the keys unattended for a nanosecond) and when I got my coupe I noticed a distinct difference in seat travel. Everyone was similarly in denial when I mentioned it 4 years ago. I'm only 6' with a 32" inseam so the coupe is fine, and I let the matter drop.
 
If the seat that didn't seem to go back as far was electric, the following could be something to consider.

I read somewhere that the seat motors have an overload function to deal with potential owner placed obstructions. If the seat encounters this obstruction a few times (causing motor current to increase), the controller sets this position as a new range limit in order to prevent possible overheating of the motor.

Unfortunately, I don't think it was clear on how to reset the limit once the obstruction was removed. Maybe just a matter of repeatedly or continuously pressing the appropriate button until it moves past the obstruction limit and moves on to the real limit, similar to the window reset routine.

Regardless, you need to do a current test fit into whatever you are considering, don't worry about how other cars may be different.
 
Coming back to this thread, because I have to say, since having my Roadster, it does seem a LOT better for legroom. I used to have my coupe just off touching the back, and the Roadster I have nowhere near! Unless I'm getting shorter due to old age.
