Im sure that if i drive "entusiastically" that my seat belts tighten.....is this a car feature or my imagination?

I would say an overactive imagination.... unless you hit something cos then they go tight!

Just tried it again with my mate in the car.....foot down....they definately tighten.

Thats the one, plant your right foot and then when you slow again your strapped in tight.

i noticed that the other day, i thought id just moved forward fast and they caught, when i slowed down a bit they wouldnt let go!

il test it out on my way home tonight lol

lol, i KNEW it happend...to anyone that it hasnt happend to.....your not driving fast enough!!!!

It's a standard function of the inertia reel belt. As you accelerate you will be pushed back into the seat until you change gear where you'll be forced forward somewhat. That's when the seat-belt locks, and thus makes it feel like it's tightening, when in fact it's just you trying to move forward in the seat with the belt not giving any more play.

Its definately tighter post acceleration than pre acceleration. no give atall

Before acceleration it won't be locked, thus it will just reel out like normal. When it's locked (during a hard gearchange) it will be as tight as possible.

Mine does it alot

Very annoying actually. It squashes my boobs. You guys won't have that problem though

mines annoying in the opposite way.. it gets squished in the gate on the side of the seat, then you notice it isn't reeling itself back in properly and is loose...

I thought it was a figment of my imagination and i know where you are coming from Lucy

It has never been that noticeable with my other cars though.

Also talking about putting your foot down, the radio/cd is driving me mad, stick your foot and down and it gets louder (yes i know it set up for that) but it gets really loud - have the same thing in my Audi but it does not get so loud when you accelerate. Maybe there is a setting i can tweak, need to read the manual - or easier could just drive slower - err think i will read the manual :D

Yes there is a setting, i have changed mine to the minimum ie 1

Turn the radio off then on again. Don’t touch any button except the 'm' button - the button you use to tune the radio frequency manually. Press and hold the 'm' button for TEN seconds or until the display changes. It will then show the serial number of the unit. Normally when you press 'm', the display will reflect that by replacing 'ST' (stereo tuning) with 'm'. When holding the 'm' button for this procedure, the display should not do this - you will continue to see 'ST' for the ten seconds. Now if the display has changed, you are in a configure mode on the radio. If you press the '>' or '<' button you change modes. The mode you want will display as "GAL (1-6)". This mode allows you to adjust the speed-sensitive volume control. Use the radio preset buttons 1-6 to set the amount of volume change you want at speed. Setting 1 is the smallest change, 6 is the highest. I use 1 with the windows closed, and 5 when it's a nice enough day to drive with the windows open, which makes for a lot of ambient noise at speed. The car is so quiet with the windows closed that setting 1 is fine. Then turn the radio OFF to save the settings. Turn it back on; go for a drive to test it. The other semi-useful test mode will tell you the signal strength of any given station from 0 to 15 (highest). Use the preset buttons to change stations in the mode. This capability is probably used in the automatic tuning function in the radio.

:) - My ex had a similar problem - being a fairly well endowed lass :)

She put a seat belt clip in which worked really well - it slackens off the belt a little and in the event of a crash or sudden braking it automatically releases and the seat belt tensions as normal. Not sure if you could fit them in the Roadster, but I see no reason why it wouldn't work in a Coupe.
