Seat belts & window rubbers...

Hi all

Couple of little things bugging me on my Z4MC, hoping for some advice here.

No. 1. My seat belt appears to be twisted, p^^^ing me off with a kink in it. The obvious solution seems to be to undo the bolt at the bottom of it which mount it to the chair, spin it round to flatten it and screw it back in. Any precautions I should take doing this - with it being a vital safety system I don't wanna make any assumptions on this one?

No. 2 The window rubber of my rear window has lifted on the 1cm before it ends - so it is not sitting flush on the bodywork. Also annoying as I can see it in my wing mirror. Any advice - will gentle glue do it? Don't really fancy gluing it if there is another solution but want to get ideas. I guess replacing the whole trim is difficult/expensive

Damn. I thought this was going to be a great joke :x :D

Can't help with 2.

My seat belt was in the same state when I got mine. I decided to try and fix it the day before a 500 mile trip to go on a forum hoon I had organised. Nearly didn't make it, as it took me a good 40mins to put it back together and couldn't drive without a seat belt. The bolt undoes, and you'll be able to pry it out, but getting it back in is a right bastard. If I had to do it again I'd loosen the seat bolts at the very least so I could lift the side up to get at the bolt freely.

I'm surprised it's twisted? Only if it had been removed before? Can you not get it sorted by pulling the belt all the way out and twisting into place around under or over the top or bottom mounting - bit of a Chinese puzzle but is that how it got twisted out of shape in the first place? . . . .or am I being stupid?

:driving:

The seal around the rear quarter glass cannot be bought separately..

It comes with the window... About £160.

I cant think whey it would have curled up unless someone has been messing..

Just raise the seat and move it forward, undo the bolt and untwist the belt. This is very simple.

Job one done. Fiddly so-and-so, but not so bad.

The tension in my seat belt seems poor though - it is very lethargic at pulling it back. Any way to cure that?

Job two I think I may be making it sound worse than it is. Will post a picture when I work out how to get them off my new phone. I doubt anything suspect has ever happened to the car, its history is good I am just picky

Could this be because the belt is twisted over in the holder? Obvious question but have you pulled the belt all the way out to check?

I did think of that - pulled it all the way out but it isn't twisted (anymore). The first bit of "reeling" is done quite quick, the second half not so quick.

I imagine there's a spring or something somewhere which is what pulls the belt back in? Presumably a sealed unit buried deep within the car.

+1

I thought this first, but checked and the bolt is mounted to the rail that does not lift with the seat.

This - forgot about that, but I'm not anywhere near my car else I'd have had a look to remind myself. For a moment reading the posts above I felt like a total dumbass

That's why I checked as I didn't have a problem so thought I must have raised the seat. Found a zed seat on eBay and clearly showed the bolt hole on the rail.

So must have been your fat fingers as said

Whilst my fat fingers undoubtedly have something to do with my issues, it really is tight in there. Which brings me on nicely to the advantages of having fat fingers :P

This is what I mean on the window.... not exactly bad but an annoyance for me

Seat belt like I said lift and more seat forward gives you plenty of room to access bolt. As for window seal I would get some clear silicon sealant and stick it down.
