Seat Belt Digging into wifes neck

When I had my e85 we had the same problem so got some seat belt clips off eBay that fit around the belt and allow you to lock it off with a bit of slack.
Some people don’t like them from a safety aspect but as long as you don’t leave too much slack they do the job.

When we got our first cars my best mate at 4'11" used to drive his minis around sitting on a thick pillow? I found it all a bit strange as I'm 6'5". Made a right odd pair.
I really don't like the sound of a seat belt clip from ebay that stops the seat belt doing its job. My lad finds seat belts dig into his neck and the belt pads are really the only way forward in the summer. Roof down and coat on in the winter.

This is a double whammy, surely? Adds free range of movement by introducing slack, and also adds free range of movement by negating/reducing the effect of the pretensioner? I'm not sure what the range of movement achievable by the pretensioner is, or how much tension it can apply. I suppose they have to accommodate very large/squishy people and big puffy jackets maybe, so maybe 10 mm of slack wouldn't be catastrophic, provided the belt isn't gripped so tightly by the device that the pretensioner can't take up the slack.Stuartt said:

I'm a bit concerned about those seat belt clips. I think the data that says they appear to be safe does not take into account explosive pretensioners that are now found on most modern cars. The clips add more slack that the pretensioner has to pull in during an accident (assuming the flaps pop open releasing the clip, which is what I would expect under the accident/pretensioner operation). Also of concern are some comments that say the clips allow the belt to ride up onto the stomach area - this is not good as the belt needs to be across the pelvic area to prevent soft tissue damage that would occur if the belt was over the stomach.
why rule out a shoulder belt pad when their exact purpose is the cure to your issue? Just get a plain black one for the passenger side only, it will be barely noticable and you will forget its even there in a day or two
