Seat and Door card change

I have a busy weekend ahead, I am changing my seats and door cards and also putting in a new set of switches to operate the heated seats. Now I know that I have to disconnect the battery for a good 30 mins before I remove the seats, does the same apply for replacing the door cards. I am asking this, because of the airbags in the doors.
 
No - you don't need to disconnect the battery to change door cards. The airbag is mounted on the door frame. The little clip marked 'airbag' just hides a fixing torx screw.

Of course you do for seats.

15 mins battery off is ample.

Changing from cloth to heated leather seats and leather door cards, its a pre oct 2004 model, so can just plug and play, been upgrading it bit by bit, steering wheel, carbon fibre wrap, 108s that need to be refurbished and powder coated.
 
From what I have learned on here, I assume that my car has a full loom in it as it was built prior to October 2004. After this BMW only put in a loom for what you had requested as part of the build. That was certainly the case when I upgraded my Steering wheel to one with mounted radio and phone controls.
 
Well as usual, doing a job on my Z4 always somehow leads to another job. The seats and door cards are now replaced, but a couple of issues have come up. Somebody in the past has decided to attack the door membrane on the drivers side, so it will be a call to the dealers on Monday to order a replacement. Don't suppose if anyone knows if they also sell the adhesive to attach it?. The other issue surrounds the bolt which attaches the seatbelt to the seat frame. I have replaced cloth manual seats with electric heated seats. The bolt on the passenger side fits no problem, but the bolt for the drivers side is too long and I cant get it into the hole. I certainly didn't expect this, thought they would all be standard.
 
I need to replace one of my door membranes this week too. Don't suppose you know if it can be done without disconnecting the airbag?
 
Looking at it today I think you will need to disconnect the bag from the door, but I think the wiring can stay in place, I am sure somebody on here will be able to advise us. I don't think they cost to much, just looks a bit messy with the adhesive. I think I will disconnect the battery just to be sure
